Received 4 oz of C&D Billy Budd in the mail yesterday, wanting to try something full flavored with cigar leaf (thanks cigarsarge for the recommendation made elsewhere). I've only had two other tobaccos, both straight Virgina blends.
Damn, that Billy Budd is pungent--as the reviews warned--but it was even more so than expected. The smell was permeating out of the bag and smell-staining my fingers through the plastic. Before I had a chance to transfer it over to some jars it was in the home office. I told my wife the smell was all over the room. She replied it was stinking up the whole house. She said it smelled like a soy hot dog... that had been eaten... and then farted.
Smoked a bowl with a friend today and it was damn tasty, much mellower than the aroma, yet full of complex flavor. Certainly wasn't a cigar, but a very nice pipe smoke with a little cigar note.
If you come across this stuff, don't let the stench deter you, try a bowl.
Latest smokes:
Cigar: 5/19: Nub Connecticut 464T
Pipe: 3/16: G.L. Pease~Charing Cross
G & H Best Brown
Hal O' the Wynd
C&D Burley flake #4
Smoked a bowl of Billy Budd on the way home from work yesterday. I have found a cure for my road rage.![]()
Mixed about 3:2 Billy Budd and MC 2015. It was a nice smoke.
Picked up a tin of Tabac Sherman 314. Gonna try to get a bowl of it in tonight at some point.
