    Default World Cup 2010

100 Day Countdown to the start of the World Cup 2010

It's official fellow BOTLs, The world cup is starting real soon and I am really excited already. I wanted to post this thread to see if there are any other soccer fans out there who will be watching the games (at least following due to time change).

Please feel free to use this thread to post anything related to the world cup, matches, teams, stats, bets , etc.

Depending on the amount of interest shown, I may have some ideas for some type of contest related to the tournament which I will post later on.

    Things to keep in mind:

Panini has been selected as the official Album/sticker/trading card provider by FIFA for this world cup and the next. Here is an article I found on that:

To that end, is there anyone who is into collecting the album and player stickers? I have all the albums dating back to the Wold Cup in Italy 1990. It is always a challenge to fill them completely and there are always trades and swaps available which I think would be cool to do with anyone on this board.

For the latest stats you can see this website which also contains all the groups and team information.

    I am stoked!

The world cup is great! I went to two games when Chicago was one of the host sites and it is an awesome atmosphere. I think the U.S. has one of its best squads in years, so I hope they do well.

Did you go back in 94 or during the recent qualifying matches? I agree, the US does have a pretty good team. They have promised a world cup by 2022 I believe.

I went to the last WC in Germany and it was amazing. The highlight for me was that I got to see Zidane play in person. It was great.

I think the USA got a pretty easy group this time around (much easier than in 06 that's for sure!!). They should place second behind England.

Seems like they've started the mandatory pre-World Cup injury spree...Rooney hurt yesterday, Fabregas today. Who's next?

20 hours from the start of World Cup! I can hardly contain myself. I guess not being in Honduras for such a long time has made my soccer "euphoria" mellow out a little bit. But today, I got to speak to some of my old buddies back home and we talked soccer for hours. The official world cup song is out already and here it is (man this girl is hot)

The I started thinking about the meaning this tournament has to me personally but more importantly what it means to the world. Its true, we have the olympics (summer and winter) and we have athletes compete from all over the world in different sports. That is the key word, different sports. I am sure there are a lot of sports that are played in many countries throughout the world, but I think the only sport that is guaranteed to be played all over the world is Futbol. Again, I am seeing this in a very respectful manner. I love sports in general; NBA, NFL, MLB mostly. But soccer is really where my heart is at. Browsing through the web, I think this commercial sums it up pretty well.
