prelight taste:

abyr: kinda grassy.

badwhale: sweet / leather smell; not much cut prelight flavor.

buzz: oh dang, something tastes bad here – not sure what it is, just off... Very strange.

cigarsarge: not much going on. Maybe some sweet flavor??? The cap is really sloppy. Looks to be a clipped effort at a shag foot. It's hard to cut.

cyris: the look and feel of this cigar is fantastic. I love the shaggy foot, and pigtail cap. I dig the band on this one too, very colorful!

daigz: not a lot of taste prelight, virtually no oils on the wrapper of this stick.

diesel grinch: bad! I tasted cheap tobacco.

eville: smells amazing, lots of sweet tobacco and spanish cedar. Attractive band. Very slight soft spot in center but otherwise fairly dense.

logan37: grassy with a slight bite.

mangyrat: tobacco and a hint of bitter coffee.

mizicke5273: leathery smell but no real prelight taste.

ndv21: did not get a lot of pre-lit taste but i do sense a little leather... Maybe some "dirt" flavor involved. Pre-lit, it does not seem as tasty as other cigars.

prophetic_joe: tasted like an unlit cigarette.

tdre977: a little earthy, shaggy foot is kind of cool. Outer wrapper has some holes in it, they appear to be from the factory.

taste (1/3):

abyr: probably the best part of the cigar.

badwhale: lots of leather flavor. Tried to tunnel right away. Only got about 3/16" of ash, as it fell off. Musky murky flavor. Leather is really dominant. Maybe some slight spice. Medium body & full flavor.

buzz: that strange prelight taste went away after the first couple puffs – whew! Flavor didn’t really take hold till the wrapper was burning (not much taste during the shaggy foot). Taste is mostly wood (bark) with maybe some coffee. No spice.

cigarsarge: damn thing is tight...got some foul tasting smoke. Developed a run about two minutes after lighting. I tried to fix it unsuccessfully. This thing is as hard as a baseball bat. I fought this thing for about 20 minutes and pitched it.

cyris: wtf? I think i got a bad one... Mine tastes like a non-filtered camel cigarette that was left in the sun for a week. I did not even finish the first third. I tried, i cant smoke this, it’s foul.

daigz: taste a little leather, not much flavor in the first third. Very bitter taste, nose exhale almost made me gag.

diesel grinch: bitter and cheap. If i didn’t say i was going to do a review i would have tossed it.

eville: initial light flavor is pleasant. Kind of a musky stale tobacco flavor but i find it to be to my liking. Have to see what happens when i get to the wrapper. Now that the wrapper is going it's mellowed out and tied itself together nicely. Not sure what the flavor is, but its medium and tasty. Burn is very straight.

logan37: right after i lit the cigar, i was hit with a metallic taste. After the shaggy foot was gone that mellowed out mostly, but still lingered in the finish. With the wrapper, the smoke was grassy and semi-sweet.

mangyrat: tobacco and not much else.

mizicke5273: leathery flavor with some hints of spice. The ash is a bit flaky.

ndv21: easy and light draw but no taste! Just... Dirt... That’s the only description that comes to mind. Smoke smells good but no flavor whatsoever.

prophetic_joe: tasted like a cigarette on the first part, i believe due to the lack of wrapper on the shaggy end. Flavor got better as it went along though. Nice even draw and lot's of smoke.

steele: too little good taste to even report, stuck with it hoping for second third to be better.

tdre977: kind of bitter and burntish tasting.

taste (2/3):

abyr: starting to get kinda bland.

badwhale: it's like the wrapper is too oily and wet and doesn't want to burn as fast as the filler. Funny aftertaste from the leather. I'm not too into this.

buzz: flavors have not changed much – bark mostly, decent amount of smoke, but a bad aftertaste.

cigarsarge: did not make it this far.

cyris: since i didn’t smoke this third, i spent this time trying to rid my mouth of the flavor. I was going to smoke the air bender next, but after this experience, i was afraid to ruin the smoke and had a yard gar instead.

daigz: same crappy taste as the first third. I could tell this wasn't going to improve so i took the dog for a walk so i wouldn't have to think of this taste all that much.

diesel grinch: same as above.

dr. Cox: ...

eville: starting to go downhill. Burn is now uneven all of the sudden and tastes stale. I can hear a faint popping whenever i draw. I hope its beetle eggs frying. Bastards

logan37: some spiciness appeared. The taste became more earthy but still had a grassy finish. The metallic taste was gone and the finish was nutty.

mangyrat: tobacco and a hint of pepper.

mizicke5273: still leathery with a bit of earthiness tossed in.

ndv21: same.... Pretty boring. I started having a few burn issues as soon as i ashed the cigar.

prophetic_joe: flavor is consistent but boring. Failing to impress.

steele: ok thought it would get better but still nothing good to report, this is about as far as i got.

tdre977: smoothed out a bit, can’t quite tell specific flavors, not enjoying it too much.

taste (3/3):

abyr: even more so. Nasty tar taste at the end.

badwhale: really it went nowhere. The flavor kinda died out at the end.

buzz: more of the same, the flavors weren’t too bad, but the aftertaste was unpleasant.

cigarsarge: who fuckin knows?

cyris: n/a.

daigz: i thought that this cigar couldn't get any more bitter, then i hit the last third... I ashed it just after starting this third.

diesel grinch: same as above.

dr. Cox: ...

eville: screw it. This cigar is like a rollercoaster, except the first drop goes straight into a pile of shit. Done.

logan37: spice picked up a bit now. The taste was still earthy and nutty and the grassy flavor went away. The finish became leathery.

mangyrat: now it gets a little better, pepper kicked in and a hint of a bitter taste.

mizicke5273: flavor began to disappear fast, beginning to leave a harsh aftertaste.

ndv21: no flavor. Any time i ashed the cigar, it would die out a bit and i had trouble keeping it lit.

prophetic_joe: same as the last but add a slight bitterness telling me it's time to let this one go.

steele: n/a.

tdre977: feels one dimensional to me, pretty much gave up on it by this point.

Abyr: Meh. It was okay, but that's it. And I shoulda smoked it earlier, cause I really wasn't looking forward to it.

badwhale: It wasn't an all out offensive shitty smoke, but really for it's price I was very disappointed. Sorry I recommended this one for the megareview, but hey, at least it hopefully will keep people from buying even a 5er.

buzz: I’ll admit that because I had already ready a half dozen reviews of this stick that I was ready to toss it out with a F grade before I even pulled it out of the humi. Honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I expected flavor-wise. The burn was nice and even, and the draw was perfect. It produced a great amount of smoke that had a semi-decent aroma. The appearance and construction of the stick were good. The prelight taste was very bad, but the 1st third was ok, followed by fair in the 2nd and then poor in the 3rd. I remember back to my days playing trumpet in a jazz band when in a set, we wanted our two best songs to be the first and the last – that way we woke the audience up with a tune that really got them excited about the show - then we would close with a song that they would remember. This stick was a great example of how not to perform a jazz gig. Was that too poetic? Probably...

cigarsarge: The price tag said $8.30...Not worth $1.30. Lots of tobacco in it. I unraveled it to see what was going on. It had a large stem in the middle with bunch of tobacco pressed around it. Avoid this one at all costs.

Cyris: Maybe mine was a fluke? An old stick in the box?

Daigz: I had a friend who recommended the Kinky line to me and I thought that this would be a good start. I now realize that he likes shitty cigars. The only thing this had going for it was that the pull was perfect.

Diesel Grinch: Some say it tasted like ass. I wouldn't know as I've never tasted ass before but I'm willing to take their word on it that this is what ass taste like.

Eville: It started off promisingly, but turned to shit after the first third. The last third was unsmokeable so I put it out in the flowerpot and broke out the pipe.

logan37: This thing started off horrible. The metallic taste killed it for me. I fought through and the end of the stick was quite good. Even thought it ended on a high note, I won't be seeking these out. That metallic taste just killed it for me. Next time we need to smoke some Texas Jewboys.

Mangyrat: It just doesn’t have anything about it that stands out.

Mizicke5273: For the price these really aren't worth the time, though if they shaved a few $s off the price, then who knows. But as it is, the way the flavor just disappeared isn't good. To me the smokeability of this stick lies in the price tag, it's ok but I'm not gonna break the bank for em.

ndv21: Even for a newbie, the burn issues and the fact that the cigar almost goes out when ashed would prevent me from recommending this. Way overpriced too.

prophetic_joe: A cigar that asks too high a price tag for what it is. Not worth the dollars it asks and just an over all underwhelming cigar. I didn't throw up or feel the need to pitch it but it is really just a forgettable smoke.

Steele: After reading a couple articles I had expected much better, though I can say I have smoked worse.

Tdre977: I wanted to smoke the Willie with an open mind since others already expressed they didn’t like it, but I can see why they didn’t. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

However, I guess smoking a cigar like the Kinky does have an upside – giving us all a better appreciation for the good cigars we smoke. With maybe a couple exceptions, everyone seemed to hate this cigar. I will be completely honest here though – once the reviews starting coming in, I was already set to give my cigar a bad review before I even lit it up. I wonder if my review would have been different had I smoked mine before anyone else. I’d like to say it would have been the same.

The Kinky’s came nicely packaged in a good looking box, in cellos and none were damaged. The shaggy foot was interesting, maybe a little gimmicky though. I wonder what the reasoning is from Kinky as to why they did this – my guess is for the “look”.
