I was wondering if we should put this request for "The Pipe Lounge" in the "Suggestions" section of the board? We could just point to this discussion. Then it would be in the appropriate place since it is, after all, a suggestion.

I have a PM sent to Hex.. I'm sure he's a busy man, but we'll hear from him soon.

I am thinking about purchasing this Antique Handmade Switzerland. I was told it is from the 1800's.
The inlays are silver and I am not sure what the cap and rope/chain are made of. The pipe itself is briar.
Has anyone ever seen these old world pipes? Are they worth anything as far as collectibles?
I am going to look at it and have it appraised before I purchase it I was just wondering if anyone here might have any comments on this as far as value, authenticity, etc. I know it is hard to tell everything about it from just a picture but here it is.
TIA
Donald
