    Default Padron 45th Anniversary

    No Other's Review found

This is a tandem review with my wife

    Padron 45th Anniversary
Drink(s): Bell’s Expedition Stout (me); Water (wife)
    Tunes: Some miscellaneous stuff playing.

    Wrapper: Nicaraguan
    Binder: Nicaraguan
    Filler: Nicaraguan
Draw: Me: Light / Wifey: Light (too light)
    Burn: (Both) Good
    Misc: About 60-90min smoke

Pre-light (Me): Box press. Dark Colorado-maduro shade wrapper. Lightly veined, but a but lumpy. Sweet leather / tobacco scent. Leather taste on cut prelight flavor.
Pre-light (Wifey): I do like the burgundy on the label. I think the smell is enticing. Doesn’t have the “feet smell” that some cigars have. Stings the palate on the prelight cut, but no funny taste.

Light: Easy. Spicy. Light draw; Wifey: Airier than expected. Easy draw. A bit smoky.

1st 3rd (Me): Dark, woodsy, leather. Rich and full body. Spicy, but well balanced. Baker’s chocolate now. Burny on the nose exhale.
1st 3rd (Wifey): Too light / airy. Not any distinct flavors. Overwhelmed by smoke.

Ash (Me): Stacks a nice dark gray. Ash bubbles present. Holds on for about 1”
    Ash (Wifey):A fine ash.

2nd 3rd (Me): Very rich. Oily, leather, tobacco flavors. Smooth and creamy. Woodsy notes. Very rich flavors. Can’t stress that enough. Pretty nice.
2nd 3rd (Wifey): Beefed up now. Flavors developing more. Mesquite flavor.

3rd 3rd (Me): Woodsy, rich, dense, full body, creamy & spicy. Nice.
3rd 3rd (Wifey): I fell slightly nauseous now with a cold sweat type feeling. Flavors are irrelevant to how crappy I feel right now.

Overall impression (Me): I thought it was a pretty good smoke overall. It did seem like they were just shooting for straight up strength, rather than finesse. Was it worth 20 – 25 bucks? Probably not. Maybe I should have another sometime, but for me, other pardons satisfy at a fraction of the cost.
Overall impression (Wifey): Couldn’t finish. Too strong, but lacking in real flavors. It was like smoking strong air. Not enough flavor.

    Will (& Wifey)

Nice duel review. Twenty-five bucks? May I borrow this quote: "I fell slightly nauseous now with a cold sweat type feeling. Flavors are irrelevant to how crappy I feel right now."?

Nice reviews, I've been wondering if the price was worth it.

These were from the split on here, so in fairness, they were 19.50 each, without sales tax.

I would think that a little aging would help with those.

They're supposedly already made with umteen years aged tobacco. I've also heard that the '26s for example, don't age well, not that I tried it.

    That's an AWESOME review!!!

My wife would describe that cigar EXACTLY the same way.

...although she does love smoking Opus X - and is particularly fond of the xXx's (e.g. "Power Rangers")!!! Go figure!

But I gotta know, Will - what the heck is with the socket wrench and nose hair clipper in photo #3!?! Inquiring minds just gotta know!
