Be sure the crystals in the humidifier are not saturated to the point that there is free-standing water, otherwise the water will just evaporate into nearly 100% humidity and the over-saturated crystals will not have any capacity to absorb it.

Well when I charged the humidifier with the Xikar solution I poured it in and let it sit for a few minutes then flipped it over and drained the excess and wiped it away. That is what the instructions said. Is there a better way?
