I smoked one of these on a recent trip to the Caribbean. I don't remember much as my "mental state" at the time was heavily influenced by rum punch. But I do remember making a drunken mental note that it was deserving of a sober try. Thanks for the review!

Hopefully you got the RIGHT Monte #2. Very easy to get something else other than the right one in the Caribbean - I saw an awful lot of fakes...

Though I was given some Monte #2's in the Caribbean that were definitely fake and smoked incredibly well. I just wished I knew exactly where to get a consistent source of those cigars - they were definitely cheaper than the real ones, and smoked like a dream. Not the same characteristics as a real Monte #2, but definitely very much made from good quality Cuban tobacco.

My experience has been that La Casa De Habana (LCDH) is the only place to be sure your getting the real deal in the gulf of Mexico. Otherwise there are several online vendors that are certified vendors of Habanas S.A. (distributor for ALL refugees)

There's a good chance it was fake. I suppose the rum punch fog probably didn't help my authentication efforts. I'll need to track another #2 down, for comparison sakes of course!
