I haven't heard back yet from Tachy... the last PM he sent me was on May 24th:
I'm going to be moving in the next couple of weeks so if the sticks come in, please hold on to them for me, I'm not sure when I'm going to have an actual address yet or where it is going to be.
I've sent him 3 PM's since then and he hasn't responded. Looks like he hasn't logged on since June 29th (the Tats came on July 6th).

Has anyone heard anything from him?

    Buzz,
If he flakes on you and you need to recoup your funds, PM me.

Thanks for the offer Paddy, but he already paid. I'll see what happens with the test letter in the mail and keep the board posted.

BTW, I'm not actually online most of the time. I think the proxy server keeps the link alive.

I should move to LA ...

Heard from Tachy today, he is in California now but wanted me to hold his Tats for ~2 more weeks because of work obligations. I'll update the thread with his DC# when I send them.

Well, short answer is no, obviously. I can, however, provide the requisite nutrients in proper proportion and plant and maintain them for the proper duration, and end up with a "true to type" plant. There is much data available to ensure this aspect.

It is not the same though, granted. I don't think I'd even want it to be the same.

In so far as reliable information exists, I can also harvest and initially "color" cure the leaves in similar manner and conditions and for similar lengths of time. What I have not been able to do without artificial heat and humidity is properly ferment those leaves. The end product of assisted fermentation is certainly smoke able, and is enjoyable. Shit, even the vast majority off CT leaf produced in the US is fermented elsewhere. Broadleaf is an exception, but it's an exception in other ways also.

Doing it yourself is epic (to fit into the theme of this thread). My hat is off to you.

I was more thinking of the box label which shows the farm (and the factory - and 'A.O.C.' - which surprised me. I didn't know that the French government had laws concerning Nicaraguan cigars...)

The fermentation (a.k.a. composting, LOL) is always assisted. There are just different ways of doing it.

Yep, but I hope to limit my assistance to piling it up, and giving it a spritz of h2o.

Those pilons (a.k.a. bulks) are huge - 1300 kilos I remember reading somewhere, I think. That's a lot of pressure. If you built a kiln (pronounced 'kill,' and no relation to what people fire ceramics in) shed/box, you could probably go smaller, but it would still be a few hundred pounds of tobacco needed, I suspect - but I don't know.

I guess that you could try what the Cubans do with wrapper - or used to do, according to some sources) - not ferment the wrapper at all (just cure it).
