Default Tatuaje La Verite Vintage 2009 ~ Robusto

Smoke: Tatuaje La Verite Vintage 2009 ~ Robusto
    Drink: h20
Tunes: None (besides wifey bitching at me that I’m smoking on a Tuesday night.)

    Wrapper: Nicaraguan
    Binder: Nicaraguan
    Filler: Nicaraguan
    Draw: Medium draw. Pretty good.
    Burn: Even
    Misc: runs about 60min.

[SIZE="3"]Pre-light: Nice maduro shade wrapper. Pronounced veins, and looks like good construction. I have to admit, they maybe could have stepped it up a notch with eh label. Looks like someone made it on a inkjet printer. Smells musky. Taste on the cut is pretty neutral with some spice.

    Light: Easy. Medium draw.

1st 3rd: Spicy, like hot sauce and oily. Nutty like a walnut skin kind of taste. Mellowing now about 3/8” in. More buttery now with the mouth feel. Still has some walnut skin oil bitter, but more subdued. Hearing little crackle post between drags.

Ash: White, stacked well but unexpended fell off 3/4”

2nd 3rd: Hot sauce / peppery, but not toothy. Oil. Little floral nuances. I’m not, I repeat NOT getting cocoa or chocolate. Medium to full body. Some woodsy notes, like oak.

3rd 3rd: Not offensive, and buttery. Mixed with oil and hot spice.

Overall impression: I’m not looking for any more. Maybe I don’t like the taste of hype.

Thanks for the review - I'm planning on burning one of these this weekend. I actually thought the band was too ornate and was hoping for something even simpler (more like what Pete uses for the standard Browns). What's in the Meco box?

    I think a cutting head for oxy/acetylene.

Yeah on the band, not that it matters. Either try harder, or try less hard.

It probably doesn't make any difference (or very little), but the Robusto and Churchill vitolas are of different tobacco blends.....anyone smoked their churchill yet?

I fired up a robusto over the weekend. Perfect burn, light gray ash that held solid for an inch, good draw, nice aroma, med-full strength, started out strong with a nice pepper and then went to a cedar-ish wood. Taste was nice but not interesting. Nubbed it without it getting hot/harsh. I'm interested to see what the churchill will be like. Good cigar, though overpriced by a couple bucks IMO.

Here's me before I smoked it:
