  1. Default Green stains on my cigars

    Hello,

After a few months I brought my cigars home from Cuba, green stains have occured on them. Here are some pictures:

    Any idea what's that?

BTW I use de-ionised water insted of distilled in the humidor, can that be a problem?
And what about these 'polymer gel' humidifiers which I use, are they good? http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedi...-cigars-bulk-1

    Thanks,

    Dam

Nothing to do with the way you're storing them, the wrappers are less than the best. Which leads to a second observation you might not want to know - there's no way the factory would have let Cohiba's out into the market with a less than top quality wrapper leaf on their cigars. Those are very, very, VERY likely fake Cuban Cohiba cigars.

He's posting the same thing on every major cigar forum.
Maybe he'll get an answer he likes over at BOTL.

I'd throw them away, not because of the green spots which don't mean $hit but because they're fake and I hate smoking lousy cigars.

Are you sure about this? Anyway I'll try to install some small urinals into my humidor and let you know if that helps...

You are right, I didn't bought them in an official shop. But I wouldn't call them fake, maybe they come from the same factory as the 'real' ones but were not nice enough? Anyway after smoking them and a real Cohiba for comparison - I couldn't tell the difference :) (which I can tell between Cohibas and other brands)
BTW the only problem with the wrappers are the green stains or also anything else?

Yeah - you got me. perhaps the cigars fell off the delivery truck on the way to the unofficial shop and the green dots are actually antifreeze stains. But, obviously the cigars are otherwise 100% real!!!

What does 100% real mean? The cigars I have are from 100% Cuban tobacco and two people couldn't tell difference between this 'off the shop' and a real Esplendido (smoked 5 minutes apart). But honestly I'm no cigar 'expert', I had just about 40 of them in my life so maybe I just don't get it. Or maybe you guys are fooling yourselves that there is SIGNIFICANT difference so you can masturbate over your cigar collections while in fact you are being ripped off. I don't know, I'm just asking...
BTW my 'Esplendido' was under $2, how much do you get yours for? :)

    Definitely.

But we've heard this song before. "I got these cigars for a great price" - "The waiter at my hotel told me his brother works at Cohiba" - "Why are my Cuban cigars glowing?" A quick search on the board will reveal many similar tales.

The choice is now yours - you can smoke them and enjoy them, or throw them out. Me personally, life is too short to smoke crappy cigars - I'd pitch them, and in the future, make sure to only deal with reputable dealers. This shouldn't be too much of a hit if each stick was less than $2. You're in denial.

What does 100% real mean? This is what I know, which apparently you've not yet learned in your vast wealth of experience in smoking those 40 cigars.

Espendido's for under $2 are not even remotely comparable to the Esplendido's sold through legit vendors for their actual price of ten times what you paid. If you and "two other" people could not tell the difference between this "off the shop" and "real Esplendido's", I'd suggest that all of the cigars you're smoking are fake. Then again, if you're only in cigar smoking for the "deal" you're getting, you could not possibly understand the pleasure of smoking a cigar that costs $20+.

Personally - the primary reason I spend $20+ for "legitimate" cigars (not off the truck) is to avoid having "green spots" and other less pleasant issues with my smoking experience. I want to enjoy the cigar, not wish I had to gargle with Listerine after I'm done. And you really don't have to "masturbate" to understand that concept, unless (of course) your knuckles are dragging on the pavement.

See, I was going to say better your cigars than your underwear, but then I gave it some thought instead of posting and left it alone. This thinking before posting shit is NO FUN

My experience is that it occurs through the curing process of shade grown leaves. It is from water drops on the plant as it was being dried. Sometimes they wont really show til later down road because leaf is still aging even after being packaged and boxed. I have seen them and smoked them and did not notice much difference.

Maybe he smoked those green beetle urine cigars and ended up in hospital, I noticed he never came back?

Do you think a $20 'Rolex' is just as good as a $4000 Rolex?

I've smoked a few fake Cohiba's. The (lack of) quality varies, but, so far, all have been inferior to Cuban domestic cigars - which are about a nickel each. I wouldn't pay almost 40 times as much for a fake band and an inferior product. I'd feel ripped off ...
