    Default Q about Kristoff Cigars

When i was in Lubbock, TX at Smokers Haven, they saw I was smoking an Alec Bradley and thought I might like this Kristoff. I had never heard of them, and it looked and smelled good, so I tried it. One of the best smokes i've had up to this point in my life! It was really a finger burner. So I'm trying to find out more about them, where to buy, why I can't find them locally, and what other people's opinions are on them. There's actually not much information on here about them, a review that said what i'm saying now, and another guy that hated them... But overall not much said. Just looking to see if any of the current crop of people here have smoked them, know about them, or think i'm a lunatic n00b that should get the ban stick.

    Thanks!

My 1st imprison of this cigar was not that great due to the condition they were in at my local shop.

Appearance aside it was a damn good smoke and i try to keep 1 or 2 around for my self and frineds.

I see why they suggested you try the Kristoff because you had an Alec Bradley. Honestly - this cigar is something like Alec Bradley in that it appears to be a boutique cigar created by someone that is trying to reproduce the Cuban experience. From the types of tobacco's used in the cigar (Wrapper: Ecuadorian or Nicaraguan, Binder: Brazilian or Domican, Filler: Cuban Seed Dominican and Cuban Seed Nicaraguan) the idea is apparently to create a medium bodied cigar with a touch of spiciness.

I see there are several types of Kristoff cigars that have been created - and I suspect they are not bad. But - it appears universally there are many who believe the cigar is overpriced for what it is. It does not appear the reviewers are critical of the price without basis. After all - this is a cigar that is relatively unknown, using tobacco's that are relatively common and rolled generically by South American factories.

It also appears there were early quality control issues which the owner (Glen Case) claims have been corrected. Although I would suspect that your smoking experience with the Kristoff's will be likely hit or miss. I also stronly suspect you will be seeing this cigar eventually offered at places like Cigars International at heavily discounted prices.

Famous has Kristoffs. I've bought a few of the ligero maduros and have enjoyed them.

I had got another one in a smapler from Famous last week. That one was the Ligero Maduro as well, and it was great as well.

Another note, I HAD the Alec Bradley when I came in that shop, but it's not a favorite of mine at all, it wasn't bad per se, but it's just what I had. Probably shouldn't have mentioned it.

Nothing wrong with Alec Bradley cigars....some are better than others, just like any other manufacturer.

Of the sampler of those I got, I really only liked 1 of them. So I bought more of that one.

This whole deal of learning what I like and don't like is extremely fun!! It's also neat to see what other people think about the ones that I like. Like this Kristoff, I think it's great, but so many other hated them.... It's really odd.
