I see why they suggested you try the Kristoff because you had an Alec Bradley. Honestly - this cigar is something like Alec Bradley in that it appears to be a boutique cigar created by someone that is trying to reproduce the Cuban experience. From the types of tobacco's used in the cigar (Wrapper: Ecuadorian or Nicaraguan, Binder: Brazilian or Domican, Filler: Cuban Seed Dominican and Cuban Seed Nicaraguan) the idea is apparently to create a medium bodied cigar with a touch of spiciness.
I see there are several types of Kristoff cigars that have been created - and I suspect they are not bad. But - it appears universally there are many who believe the cigar is overpriced for what it is. It does not appear the reviewers are critical of the price without basis. After all - this is a cigar that is relatively unknown, using tobacco's that are relatively common and rolled generically by South American factories.
It also appears there were early quality control issues which the owner (Glen Case) claims have been corrected. Although I would suspect that your smoking experience with the Kristoff's will be likely hit or miss. I also stronly suspect you will be seeing this cigar eventually offered at places like Cigars International at heavily discounted prices.
