    Default Marrying cigars

I've been running a couple experiments to try to see the effects of marrying (keeping different cigars in the same humidor without cello so that the flavours blend).

The first experiment was to keep a half a bundle of Flor de Oliva Corojo's in a humidor full of Padron Maduros for six months to see how the FdO's would change. There were about 1/10th the number of FdO Corojo's as Padron Maddies - the idea being that the Padrons wouldn't be affected as much as the FdO Corojo's.

As expected - and admittedly not blind - the FdO Corojo's in the Padron-a-dor smoke much nicer to me than the FdO's that I kept isolated. (I like Padrons.)

The second experiment was/is putting half a cab of Por Larranaga Petit Corona's together with half a cab of Partagas Shorts. The jury is still out on that one, but after a year, so far the Party Shorts seem to have picked up a bit of the PLPC's trademark caramel, but the milder PLPC's seem to have stronger earth notes and are fuller-bodied now.

    YMMV.

"Tobacco is like a sponge." - Carlito Fuente, referring to how (some?) Opus X tobacco is barrel-aged to enhance its flavour.

Pretty cool experiment, but why didn't you make it blind?

    Two reasons:
    1. They're my cigars and I want to smoke them. Debanding by a friend wouldn't have made it even quasi-blind for me, as the pre-light smell of the married cigars is quite different.
    2. I'm not CA.
    :-)

ETA explanatory 2nd sentence under 1.

I'm pretty sure that the U.S. does not recognize marriage between cigars may have to call it a civil union in the states.

LOLZ! I think this is true because if someone is using cigar he/she is like a soul mate for them for their long life.

LOLZ?!? What? Ummm... Oh... Now I get it. You laugh hard (because it's in CAPS) and then pass out immediately afterwards because it's so funny you can't breath!

The rest is gibberish. Is it even worth trying to get someone to translate?!?

Never mind - there's really no need or reason to root around the brain of a numbnut for some kind of sense of understanding...

HAHA. It's funny you brought this topic up. I am also quit curious about this, I mean in theory it makes sense.
The only problem I see is making both cigar mediocre. You bring the lesser sticks up but pull the better sticks down.
You obviously thought about this as well and used the ratio of more good sticks than bad.
I started doing this a year ago and put some milder sticks I wasn't too fond of with a box of maduros. The maduros haven't changed at all, but it's been a year since I touched the mild ones.
I'll report back this weekend on how that goes...but it'll be tough since I haven't smoked them in a while.

If I don't like a cigar, then I'm not going to be giving them to somebody else ...
