HAHA. It's funny you brought this topic up. I am also quit curious about this, I mean in theory it makes sense.
The only problem I see is making both cigar mediocre. You bring the lesser sticks up but pull the better sticks down.
You obviously thought about this as well and used the ratio of more good sticks than bad.
I started doing this a year ago and put some milder sticks I wasn't too fond of with a box of maduros. The maduros haven't changed at all, but it's been a year since I touched the mild ones.
I'll report back this weekend on how that goes...but it'll be tough since I haven't smoked them in a while.
