I'm not really trying to break stones here, but have you actually tried those compared to a Hemi? I haven't compared them, but I'm going to guess that they're nowhere near the same.

Cigars International.

This is just me, but I've found the Oliva G line to be similar to the hemi line, but they're not much less expensive. You will be very hard pressed to find anything under 5 bucks that's going to be like a hemmingway.

No I haven't but honestly $2.80 a stick is cheap enough to find out without breaking the bank. cheap alternative's, are cheap. but it's a recommendation, no one has to take it.

On the other hand, if he does just buy 1 single from Famous he'll end up paying 5 bucks or so on shipping and end up at square one with a dog rocket.

Trust me, I've gone / go the route of inexpensive cigars, and through trial and error (more error) I've found a few that are pretty darn good, but not comparable to an AF Hemi.

Famous Nic 3000s
El Cobre (although they are jacking them up)
Famous VSL Honduran
Famous Maduritos
Consuergra 84s
Sancho Panza
Really, most 1000series Padrons are inexpensive

Of course, none of these are like a Hemmingway ~ Natural or Maduro

It also depends what we're talking about as "cheap."
