Smoke: Illusione HL Candela
Drink: Anderson Valley Brewing ~ Brother David’s Triple Abbey
Tunes: Supertramp ~ Crime of the Century
Date Smoked: 1/12/12
Wrapper: Nicaraguan
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Draw: Medium to light
Burn: perfect
Misc: Started at about 9:50PM and went to about 11:15PM
Pre-light: Unusual (for me.) Claro shade wrapper lancero with pigtail cap. Cardboard texture to the wrapper. Hay tobacco scent. Light tea flavor on cut prelight taste.
Light: Easy. Used the matco torch lighter. Light to medium draw.
1st 3rd: Smooth. Not much spice or bite, but a strong retrohale sensation. Sweet tobacco and a faint tea flavor. There’s a flavor on the slow exhale I can’t explain. I’ll try and pick it out in the 2nd third. Nice and smooth. Medium body and medium to full flavor.
Ash: Nice layered white. Holds on for about 1” and falls off right on my review notepad.
2nd 3rd: Interesting. That light grassy / hay flavor is apparent due to the candela wrapper, but the binder / filler gives a nice boost. Now I get some spice. Great burn / draw. That flavor is a ‘green’ acrid twinge. It’s the wrapper. It mixes well.
3rd 3rd: Good mix. The candela “twang” a tart acrid note becomes more pronounced as you move along. Good balance. Good blend and change of pace.
Overall impression: Great cigar.
