Default Old Henry Gold ~ Robusto

Smoke: Old Henry Gold ~ Robusto
Drink: Cricket Hill ~ East Coast Lager
    Tunes: N/A
    Date Smoked: 1/21/12

    Wrapper: Connecticut Ecuador
    Binder: Nicaraguan
    Filler: Nicaraguan
    Draw: Light to medium
    Burn: good
    Misc: Goes for about 60min

Pre-light: Great construction on velvety looking Connecticut wrapper. Claro shade wrapper. Lightly veined. Has an earthy, musty tobacco scent. Spicy and sweet tobacco on cut prelight taste.

Light: Easy. Light to Medium draw.

1st 3rd: Spicy and sweet tobacco. Creamy and there is a bit of walnut skin bitter twinge. Good mix. Light to medium body with medium flavors. Nice sofar.

Ash: Medium gray with black tiny speckles. Holds on for about 1 ¼”

2nd 3rd: A lot like the 1st 3rd. Good, same profile. Some less spice. Creamy, some oil and sweet tobacco. Good blend, and a little lighter than the red band.

3rd 3rd: Less spice. Nice oily sweet tobacco mix. The Connecticut wrapper is evident on this one.

Overall impression: A good addition to the OH line.

    Thanks VCMark for this opportunity!

LOL - Mark sure gets around!

I don't remember offhand which OH I got from Mark in a small swap but I liked them too!

    Good review Will, thanks!

Thanks for the review! I really enjoy these. They have been consistent in my experience.

I think someone just called me a whore.....indirectly! lol

The ones you and I traded were the regular line (red label). I bought a box of those and they were the first Old Henry's I had tried. I have since tried their other two lines (Maduro and Gold). The Maduro have a brown label and I have tried the Robusto and Corona vitolas. The Gold have a gold label. I have only tried the Robusto in that line.

I like the Gold slightly better than the Maduro and Regular lines, but they are pretty close. All are nice spicy cigars.
