I don't know what country you're finding your pennies in but in the USA and Canada they're 3/4" in diameter which means you need at least 256 (16x16) of them to cover a square foot, not 144 which is $2.56 sqft (your price almost doubled, didn't it?) and like I said, that still doesn't include adhesive and whatever expensive epoxy you plan on sealing/covering it with.

Of course it's also highly illegal to use currency like this in the United States, check "TITLE 18, PART I, CHAPTER 17, 331. Mutilation, diminution, and falsification of coins" of the US Code and see what can happen to one's sorry ass if they get caught.
Hey dumbass, see the squiggly line? That means its an APPROXIMATION.

Exactly, it's not practical, but in some uses it would be cool.

You were doing better by remaining silent.

Your approximation was just for the pennies, nothing else, which is misleading. A cool blog, IMHO, but misleading.

I agree, and that's what I get for assuming nobody would take it seriously.

Well, your "approximation" was so far off that you warranted being called a "dumbass."

If I said it was "~175 miles driving distance" from New York to Chicago when it's actually more like four to five times that, it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone called me a dumbass for making a statement as stupid and as dumb as that.

You on the other hand really don't have a good reason to call me one in this case you asshole.

You are right, and thus I'm going to apologize publicly for my asshole-ness. I apologize for calling cc86 a dumbass. Now that we've jacked this thread up, has any decision been made on what's actually going to be used?

One good thing about our kitchen is that the subfloor is great. Before the last owner put down this stupid carpet, they at least put in quality subfloor. Received some rubber tile samples yesterday. My wife and I both like the material and the red color we are thinking about. Now I have some sample requests in to another manufacturer. After comparing the Nora rubber and the Activa rubber, I think we'll request price quotes.

So the wifey brought home some floating vinyl plank flooring samples to look at for our living/dining/kitchen. We have thought about going with laminate, engineered wood, hard wood, stained concrete, tile, and now this vinyl plank.

    Pros:
    Low cost
    Durable / fine with dogs
    Easy to install
    Spills not a problem
    Isn't "tappy"

    Cons:
    Seems "cheap"
    Vinyl feel
    Need special cleaning product
    Not environmentally friendly

Anyone have experience with this type of flooring? Wifey says I need to get the flooring project done this summer.

Hey Buzz, when you guys stop in next month I'll show you the laminate I put in the basement a few weeks ago. 9/16" thick, super quiet, multiple board length, attached pad, pretty nice stuff. The wife and I installed 800 sf in about a day and a half. The kicker was it was about $1.60/sf at Sam's club. We did have to pay $40 for a Sam's club membership, so I suppose that raised the price a bit. Same stuff at Lowe's was $4.00/sf.

We considered the vinyl plank for the basement, but I couldn't get over how cheap feeling it was. That slick vinyl just doesn't do it for me.

I have a Costco membership, I never thought to look there for flooring, I'll check it out. We will be leaving Oregon Mark's place May 27th, so depending on how long we hang out with Canadian Mark we should be at your door the first week of June. ERT is going to be awesome!

This is my main concern with it too.

You either knock it off or you're going to be forcibly removed from this place, do you understand? Your immature bullshit won't be tolerated here.

I apologize bmock, someone else told me he was responsible for the "tags" that I took offense to. I was also wrong for continuing to blame you and make offensive comments towards you.

Its my turn now to hunt for new flooring.
We liked the hard wood we had down but water lines broke and now we have to replace it.

I'm really interested in the rubber flooring but we have cats and them Little fuckers rip and tear threw the house so far the only flooring holding up to them is the lament "fake wood looking stuff" and tile.

IF any one has tried the rubber tiles how well dose it hold up to pets?
