The lunatic pulled it off. There won't be any "OH SHIT I'M FLOATING INTO ORBIT" posters, but I think the salute before the step off would be a fine substitute. Broke 3 records and the sound barrier.

They said that if he started flipping/spinning at all, the g forces would eventually kill him because there's no atmosphere to correct himself against. How many times have you seen someone do a jump where they start off axis and correct themselves? Thats the scariest part to me.

I've jumped out of choppers about 4' off the ground.That was enough for me.
Jumping out of perfectly good aircraft just doesn't seem prudent.
