I've tried others here and there, a Padron 3000 that was pretty good, and really liked the Fuentes Chateau Fuentes.

I think I'm moving along ok...I smoked an Ashton something or another, was given to me as a mild cigar. It was like smoking air.

I went the next week to the cigar store and tried a Rocky Patel Decade...I've now smoked quite a few of the RP's and kind of like them, and I've been moving towards more full bodied sticks.

I've also been lucky enough to go to these events at one of our local Indian Casinos called "Smokin' Good Time". For $25, you get 2 premium cigars, free Scotch (I don't drink), and some good jazz, plus appetizers. It's held once a month. That way I get to try a lot of different ones. I've found good ones and ones I didn't like so much....

Well, that's more than a little about me, hope I didn't ramble too much and this made some sort of sense..

Welcome!

The cigar events, like Smokin' Good Times, is one of the better ways of trying different cigars. It's also a great way to meet other cigar smokers and discuss likes/dislikes.

If you like the Rocky Patel Decades, look for the RP Edge. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Fuente's are a consistently good cigar, and if you're able to find Anejo's or Opus X I can't imagine you'll be too disappointed. You should also keep an eye out for Hemingway maduro's. The Anejo's, Opus X and Hemingway Maduro's are limited release cigars, but they're out there if you look. Just don't let the retailers gouge you for them - if you stay connected with the cigar community you should find pretty much all you need at regular retail.

If you like full body / full strength cigars look for the La Flor Dominicana. Their Airbender is a decent middle of the road smoke. The Chisel will knock your socks off (I would not attempt it unless you've had good meal).

Enjoy!
