Yesterday my boyfriend and I stopped at a cigar shop and he picked out a cigar that had a twisted cap on the foot. I asked him how you light this type of cigar and he told me that he always just lights the twisted part on the foot and smokes it. I have not ever seen a foot quite like that before and was wondering if there was a correct way to light it or if there is a specific name and purpose for the foot having a twisted cap.

Before anyone asks I do know that cap usually refers to the end of the cigar you cut and the foot is the end you light. The reason I called it a cap is that it appeared to be a separate leaf altogether and not just a twisting of that end of the cigar. I also tried google and only found different names and descriptions for a twisted or pig tailed cap.

Thanks in advance
