    Default CI Shipment Is In!

Welp after ordering last week around Thursday or so my shipment from ci.com came in this afteroon around 11 or so. Whipped out the pocket knife and got the box open ASAP! Opened it and it was full of peanuts..........I was like ::sigh::: the joy of digging for burried treasure! Got to the first big box which was my jar humidor for my desktop, and then I dug deaper to find my package of cigars! I give ci.com a big for their speedy processing and shipment. Anyways since I know you guys like pictures I shot a couple of my new "collection" By the way I soaked the humidifier at the top with distilled water and the small sponge piece at the bottom too. I'm curious should I let the jar get to 65-70 before putting the cigars in there?

Ok so I decided I would get the humidor to the correct humidity level and then put the cigars in.(Shouldn't take long since its not all wooden and only has one piece of cedar in it. I put the cigars back into a plastic baggy I got at a cigar shop along with a sponge soaked in distilled water.

P.S. I know I need to lower the temperature about 10 degrees

I recommend using a 50/50 Propylene Glycol/distilled water solution. Propylene Glycol inhibits microorganisms and automatically regulates at %70 RH. Sacrifice a Spanish cedar cigar box and cut a circle of it for the bottom of the jar. Place it in there unfinshed side up. The wood will help retain moisture and regulate the humi. Your local cigar shop may be able to help supply you with a box. All you need after that is a jigsaw or scroll saw and some sandpaper. Also keep the jar out of direct sunlight, and in the dark as much as possible.

    Default dHUTCH! Slow down!

    OK.....

First. Your humidor is a Cigar Jar. Now these work great but you can't condition one since it's plastic. Conditioning is only for wooden humidors. OK, it does have a cedar disc in it. But it's only there for aroma and would only offer minor humidity stabilization anyway.

Take the sponge out. Make sure the puck up under the lid is properly moistened and put your cigars in it.

Relax. They'll be perfectly fine. I once had a Cigar Jar and they work well. Just check the puck for water a couple of times a week.

Remember. This jar is giving an air tight seal. It's not going to lose much humidity. In fact be sure to pop it open at least once a day for air exchange!

SECOND - When placing a piece of sponge or other wet material in a baggie for humidification...BE SURE IT DOESN'T TOUCH YOUR CIGARS!

    You naughty, naughty man!

Most of all...as I said...relax and enjoy your cigars!

If you really wanted to, you could take the cedar disc and wipe one side of it with distilled water till it's very damp and then place it back in the jar with the wet side facing down. You don't want wet materail touching your cigars.

    Default By the way....

How long was the probe in the jar before you got that reading of 53%rh at 80 degrees?
