    Default Varnishing the Cigar

    Sorry I couldn't resist.

Can someone please explain to me why some cigars are varnished? Which cigars are varnished (besides the 8-9-8)? And what are they varnished with?

Im sorry if this is a stupid question but I searched the topic and couldn't find any explinations.

It's the boxes that are varnished, not the cigars.

Many premium cigars come in nicer boxes. You are basically just paying for a nice presentation.

that's not all... Varnished boxes are thought to be less permeable or porous. To some this means better for long term ageing.
