Thread: Break the Bank...

  1. Default Break the Bank...

OK, so I have already posted a poll on this subject, but I was just wondering who spends the most (Weekly) on cigars. I usually just limit myself to about 40 U.S., but there seem to be a lot of people here who spend A LOT more. How much a week do you spend a week on cigars, (the official price and not the one you give to your spouse), and how much do you think the average afficionado spends?

Don't know about the average smoker. I spend about 40-50 a week.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.

There have been times (like Friday) where I smokes $40.00 worth of cigars in one day.

This not a very good question for a thread topic. There are times when people smoke or spend a large sum of money one week and little or none the following week.

    Your second question:
how much do you think the average afficionado spends?
    is even worse.

What is an "average afficionado (sic)" (that's ONE "f" not two )? How on earth do you define that IE? That is essentially an impossible question to answer based on the fact that an average aficionado means something different to just about everyone.

    Your second question:

OK, Baring no major long term, collection or other expendature. Excluding Humidors, what would you estimate to be your AVERAGE expendature per week.

Over what period of time? The last month, the last three months, the last six months, the last year, the last two years, the last three years or the last ten years? The answer is very different for all of those time periods in my case and I'd be willing to bet in just about everyone else's case as well. Your time frame (a week) is too small. That's like asking "How much do you eat per minute?" I could figure it out but the answer is meaningless. If you want to change it to "per month" it would make it slightly easier to answer but in my case, I'll spend anywhere between $0.00 and $2,000.00 per month. That's the best answer I can give you.

I coulda sworn this question was put in poll form here at one time or another.....

I was in the $40-50 range a couple months ago when I was smoking only the gas station brands. Now I'm smoking fewer cigars per day but probably more in the $60-70 range since I'm smoking about five pricey Ashtons per week in addition to cheaper Belmondos and Berings. I'm getting some sweet relief these days though since my boyfriend brought me a new box of Ashton Churchills when he was in Des Moines last week. But I'll have to return the favor with an expensive gift for him, so I'm not sure if I'm saving anything...lol.

Man Cat, you are getting technical... Just forget it man. It is a pretty straight forward question that is open to interpretation. If you cant understand it, leave it for someone else to answer, it is no big deal or anything. I was just wondering....

Yeah, and it was posted before. (I said that when I asked!) I was interested in people if anything had changed, if they never responded before and for the new people. It is always interesting to see what things have changed around here.

Don' get defensive and start acting like a snot nosed punk, okay? I explained in a considerable amount of detail that your question is indeed NOT straightforward (that's all one word, not two ) and open to far too much interpretation to be reasonable.

Ya see, here's the problem, many people just ignore you and talk about you behind your back saying things like "geez, he's kinda cocky, likes to talk about himself, bullshits us about how he ages cigars, seems intent on trying to impress us, can't spell and seems to be pretty much a jerk". I on the other hand take my time to explain to guys like you what your shortcomings are and yep, it doesn't exactly make me the most popular kid in the sandbox. Trust me, you've been receiving many a subtle hint as to everything I said about you in the quotes in the previous sentence so play nice and think before you post.

Stop being so hostile man..... I have no interest in playing politics here, just talking Cigars. Everything I tell you guys is completely honest. What is your problem? Do you like making yourself feel better by putting people down? Seriously, this forum is about Cigars and while I will get off topic, just like anybody else, I am only here to talk cigars and smoking cigars or other cigar related topics.

I am going to take the high road now and ignore your criticism. I know my short-comings and will apologize to anybody that doesn't like me. Take a deep breath man, smoke a nice cigar and relax.

I'm not "playing politics" nor being "hostile." On the contrary, you describe your own behavior perfectly Now you've resorted to trying to pick a fight rather than just keeping your cocky-assed mouth shut. Once again, you are way too much of a thin skined baby to take criticism and because you can't, you resort to being an outright asshole.

Take the "high road" all you want but if you don't clean up your act and address the concerns I outlined in quotes in my previous post, you're going to find rough going from here on out.

I usually spend $30-200 a week, sometimes more sometimes none. I tend to buy very few cigars at local shops, their selection is limited so I'll buy a few and if I like them I usually buy a box online.

I spend about $30 canadian on a cuban, and I smoke them about 5-6 days a week. Average I spend $200 a week I guess on my habit. But that doesn't include when I buy box's of stogies, that would inflate my weekly average by a large amount. I'm gonna have to agree with CC that it's hard to put a number on it, cause some weeks I spend thousands....
