  1. Talking First Humidor: Ready to Buy

    Ok guys ,

I'm ready to make the plunge and buy my first humidor....

I wanted one where I could:

    - Show off my cigars
    - One that had a lock in it
    - Quality construction and will do the job

    And the winner is: http://www.cubancrafters.com/products.php/item_id/2630

I also noticed this one that was rosewood for $10 less:

    - http://www.cubancrafters.com/products.php/item_id/2633. Why is cherry more expensive?

Did some research on 'Cuban Crafters' and they seem to have EXCELLENT customer service (one reason for buying). I even saw some feedback that was negative and they responded to see what they could do to solve the issue! That really impressed me. Also checked the reviews and people seem to be really happy with theirs. Anyone deal with this company?

I'm having a lot of fun going to the local shop in town and trying new things....I've found some ones I'd definitely like to buy online and store in a humidor...as well as investing in some sampler packs.

Just curious to hear your feedback, being a newbie and all. Fire away

Very nice...But you will soon become obsessive compulsive and need a coolerdor.

I had that same humidor from them, got it off ebay for 40. Great humidor, but like the sarge said, I left that for my father and upgraded to the coolidor this past week. Much better choice.

    Best,

The humidors you are looking at are fine. Either will work quite nicely.

The rosewood is less most likely because it is a less popular seller for them.

The wood these are made of is solid spanish cedar. There is no real cherry wood or rosewood used.

Check out a posting I made some time ago at this link:

Again, the humidors you're lookng at are fine. Just not expensive.

Just for shits and giggles check out this next site. It's a site operated by Arlin LIss. Arlin makes serious, hand made humidors out of real hardwoods and exotics with actual cedar liners. His handmade stuff sells for thousands of dollars.

On the other hand, you can get a cabinet humidor, hand made, real hardwoods for a reasonable cost. Check out Bob Staebell's site here:

Don't be discouraged. A $69 humidor is perfectly fine!

    Not a bad-looking little humi.

I have one of their 40-50 cigar models and I'm quite happy with it...

I bought a glass top humi but after a couple weeks I ended up selling it to a friend and I went and bought a solid top humi. The reason for this is that sunlight ect can affect your cigars in a negative way. Also I found the solid top humi's have a little bit more cedar in them and may as a result hold more moisture then the others. Also, who knows how well the glass is sealed when the humi's are mass produced. Besides, it just looks shoddy unless you have only premium sticks on the top tray, and even then, as your humi fills up the top tray will look less and less organized Just my two cents
