  1. Default May i get a little help please

    Hi there

Im in England and have just smoked my first cigar - it was great !!
theres a couple of questions I have to ask - please dont flip on me for being new to cigars

    ok here goes :

    Firstly

    - How much are you meant to inhale of the actual cigar smoke - i find it very thick and can make me light headed REALLY easily

    - how old where you all when you started smoking cigars , i dont smoke ciggarettes im 19 and would you say 19 is too young (im asking this as you always see middle aged men smoking them or ... the godfather)?

    - Ok -the cigar i smoked was a HAMLET, you will probably think this is a crap cigar - but you gotta start somewhere right ?!? What do you think is a good starting cigar ? What Cigars should i be looking out for and whats the difference .

    - how come i always see people with unlighten cigars - just kinda chewing them ?

    Thanks

    Vik .

You DON'T inhale them...you savor the flavor of the smoke...

You can start smoking cigars at any legal age (or before if you can get away with it...I musta been 16 or so when I first smoked a Havatampa...crap cigar)...but that was a few decades ago...I'm of legal age now...

Never heard of a Hamlet...I'm sure some of the other guys here, have...

And you don't want to chew the end if you can avoid it...sometimes you can't...a fine cigar should be sipped at...

definatly don't inhale. it will make you very sick. it sounds like the one you were inhaling was pretty low on nicitine, stronger cigars will make you sicker faster, sometimes without inhaling.

i started when i was 20. the legal age here is 18.

try an arturo fuente 858. they are reasonbly priced and taste good.

    1. NEVER inhale your cigar's.

    2. 19 is not too young to start enjoying good cigars. It is a great pleasure that could and should be enjoyed by everybody!

    3. If you are looking for a good starter cigar, I would go Cuban. I am Canadian and like you, we are not subject to any senseless embargo's. A good, cheap starter cigar is a Jose L. Piedra. They are excellent cigars for a great starter price.

    4. As for unlighten cigars, they are either waiting to smoke or are posers. Apart from those who are biting the end off, usually done by many purists, I never understand just chewing a cigar for looks.....

As a final piece of advice, I would tell you to stay with this forum. The information here is practically endless.

LMAO!! Funny how IE mentions Jose Piedra, that's what I'm smoking as I type this

You've got good answers to your questions so I won't repeat them. Look for Jose Piedras. Many of them come in cardboard boxes of five. Try Some Cazadores or Brevas, I think you'll like them.

My screen name is for Coventry, England where they build (or used to build ) Jaguars

    Cheers!!

Where abouts in England do you live?

If you're in London I would recommend you make your way to Casa del Havano in Soho. They will be able to help you with superb advice. You'll never touch a Hamlet again after that.

    Enjoy!

I support the JLP advice, Hamlet are an overprocessed machine made cigar. JLP are also machine made, but use cuban tobacco and are excellent value.
