Thread: Tabletop Vintage Lighter Search

  1. Default Tabletop Vintage Lighter Search

    Hey there, folks.

    First post from me.

Recently got into smoking cigars. I use a butane flame lighter from NIBO to light everything - works great for me.

Now - for decor purposes, I'd like to find an old tabletop lighter. Doesn't matter if it's lighter fluid, butane, or whatnot. Again, it's mostly for decor.

There are alot of these on eBay, but I can't seem to find the type I'm looking for. What I want is a tabletop lighter that has a sort of "removeable stick" that you pull out of the base, press down on to strike and get an open flame at the end of the stick. You then place the stick back in the base to extinguish it.

I think this type of lighter was popular back in the 30s/40s. If you've seen "The Maltese Falcon" (and you all should), they use this type of lighter a few million times in the movie.

So has anyone seen/owned a lighter like this?

Id try ebay...you can usually find everything and anything there. I know what youre talking about and remember seeing one somewhere as a kid, probably my grandmothers house.

It kills me to think of all the really nice old smoking stuff from my grandfather being thrown away after she died. Beautiful stand up ashtrays with the lever to dump ashes into a bottom pot, milk glass desk lighters, vintage cigar boxes, and pipes....ohhhh Im depressed.

I've searched pretty extensively on eBay.

Can't seem to find one of these.

Does anyone know what this style of lighter is called?

    Look familiar?

This is a Ronson Octette Touch Tip table lighter. There's a couple on ebay right now.

It looks pretty stylish but I wouldn't want to use it to light a cigar.

Thank you mate. That's what I'm looking for.

It's just somethin' I'd like to have for decor.
