I actually caught myself being lazy and doing this the other day. Mainly I wanted to see if my Xikar Tech would zip right through it or not. Worked like a champ.

i've heard that if your using a dull cutter, cutting through the cellophane will help you keep a cleaner cut...
dont know if it really works or not tho

I try not to use a dull cutter. I do have an old dull cutter that I could try this theory out on one of my cheaper cigars. The Xikar cutter will cut through anything.
