Not a big fan of dark beer, I guess it is too rich. If I am buying, my personal favorite is Dos Equis (XX) Amber. It may not be the best or anything, but everyone has their preferences and that is my personal favorite.

i don't mean to insult anyones taste but imo guiness is terrible. i prefer to drink not chew my beer. but i was reading an article about the proper way to drink beer and i am not doing it anywhere near right as far as that's concerned so what do i know.

I just read through the thread and didn't see the most obvious question..... Why a dark beer? I do agree with many of the replies that a micro brew or pub is the best place to go exploring. Most will let you sample one you're interested in trying. I would find the one you like, and enjoy, regardless of color! Having been a beer drinker and cigar smoker for 20+ years now, I have found that ratings, peer pressure, and fads have little to do with actual enjoyment. Enjoy your new found (and now legal) passion.
A woman is a woman, but a cigar is a smoke...

I don't think I'd go that far, but definitely overrated.

Have you been suctioning it through your nose?

Default I have never been a fan....

    of dark beers.

    But to each his own.

Beer is like cigars. Many types. Many tastes. A liquid world to explore.

    Wow...that's heavy man.

Well I gave it a try lastnight, tastes just like any other beer too me, just a bit of a different after taste. I think I'm just going to stick with my whiskey

On the subject of Guinness, you should all try the Guniness Export that is brewed in Nigeria. That stuff is real good, just have to watch the sediment in the bottom of the bottle.
I thought it was a tampon joke!

they were saying some garbage about how beer directly from the bottle and ice cold has no taste. you are supposed to pour it in a beer glass get yourself a thick head and let it breathe and warm up. well F!@K that. i say pull that sucker ice cold from the fridge take the cap off that bottle then past the lips, over the gums.

but come to think of it through the nose might not be such a bad idea.
