Thread: Storing cut cigars...

  1. Default Storing cut cigars...

    I'm curious...

How long can cut cigars be stored in a humidor (under proper humidification and all)?

Is there any reason (other than appearance) that a cigar even has a cap on it?

It should store fine, just don't bump it around much, it could knock the wrapper loose.

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't store perfectly well, provided it's properly cut and placed in the right humidor environment. After all, the other end is already open.

    Here's what I was thinking...

I might get a small humi for the office, in case I want to wander down to the beach or if I'd just had one of "those days". I thought I could get a simple single or double guillotine cutter, but I'm completely hooked on this Xikar and anything else would seem downright crappy.

So I was thinking about cutting them at home with the good Xikar and just storing them at work pre-cut. I couldn't really figure a downside, but hey, what do I know?

I pre-cut the Cigars in my office and I have about 30 different brands there. Most of them are more than 6 months old and they are all completely fine. As already said though, dont bump them around too much because you might loosen the Tobacco. If you really want to make a statement, you could try getting a premium desk mounted cutter. They look classy and interesting and would allow you to cut your cigars in your office. Most types also deliver a very good cut. But this is just a matter of your personal taste.

If you are really hooked on the Xikar cutter, simply buy another one. Or as suggested buy a nice desktop cutter! I can see what you mean about not wanting to use anything else though! Those Xikar cutters are great.
