So I was thinking about cutting them at home with the good Xikar and just storing them at work pre-cut. I couldn't really figure a downside, but hey, what do I know?

I pre-cut the Cigars in my office and I have about 30 different brands there. Most of them are more than 6 months old and they are all completely fine. As already said though, dont bump them around too much because you might loosen the Tobacco. If you really want to make a statement, you could try getting a premium desk mounted cutter. They look classy and interesting and would allow you to cut your cigars in your office. Most types also deliver a very good cut. But this is just a matter of your personal taste.
