    Do you have to treat the cooler in any way, or are the cigar boxes enough to keep the plastic smell away?

    After your cigars sit in there a few days, the plastic smell goes away. It is taken over by the sweet aroma of a blend of cigars!

    I just gave mine a good washing with soap and water, followed by thorough rinsing and drying.
    Make sure to dry it well since any remaining moisture will hang in there for a while, possibly affecting your humidification "system".
