Did you mistake your humi for your hamper. Dirty socks tend to have a weird funk.

The girls on Sex And The City used to talk about funky spunk...hope it wasn't that...if it was, dunno how you would get that in your humidor...

    Default Hey Godfather!

    AND I MAKE SEXUAL INNUENDOS???!!!!

    Humidor funk - well......

I've discovered a couple of things over the years.

Many larger humidors today are made of MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is wood fiber pressed together with glue, then of course lined with cedar and topped of with a laminate for wood grain. It's great stuff to use for a humidor since it won't warp and it's not expensive. BUT, some types may use a particularly smelly glue. The odor can stick around for a while if the humidor is relatively new.

    Not the case?

Your humidifier's element may be developing the odor. Florist foam? Change it for a fresh piece. Try using a 50/50 water/pg solution (available at any cigar store). Propylene Glycol will prevent mold and fungus from growing in your humidifier as well as stabilizing rh at 70%.

    Not that either?

I've noticed some cigar box materials having funny odors. Mainly the paper board ones. Again from glue most likely.

    No?

There's only one other explanation. Humidor Gnomes. Those little bastards! I caught one once pissing in my humidor! I've heard they'll even in them sometimes! Ghastly!
