    Default Good Deal?

    http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?page=weekly_specials

Hi,everyone! I am new to this forum and also new to the "cigar world".

Actually, I just started to smoke cigar recently. I bought some cheap hand-made ones from

JRcigars.com. I just found that there is a really special promotion on that web but not sure

about it is a good deal or not. Any thoughts?

Just in case, I am from Ontario, and JR does not do any International shipping, but i have compared their site to others and they seem very reasonable and have good deals....but wait until you hear from the experienced people on this forum before you do anything.

This is a great forum for questions like this, and the members are extremely helpful!

I wouldnt do it personally. You dont know what cigars your going to get- it even says your going to get some cheep ones. You should spend your money on something thats atleast going to be good quality- maby even look in the exchange forum and work out a newbie trade with one of the guys here. JR is kinda like Wal-Mart.. they are big, have alot of stuff, alot of times at a decent price- but if you want high end stuff your probably going to have to look somewhere else.

I'm not a huge fan of samplers for newbies. What I'd suggest instead is finding a local shop and asking for suggestions. They can help you pick out some great smokes in your price range. They're there to help and usually know quite a bit about cigars. Whenever I'm done selecting my sticks, I usually ask for a suggestion. When you get used to cigars, then get some samplers. :)

I also prefer to know what I'm getting, so the offer doesn't tempt me.
That's not to say you'd be ripped off. JR is reputable and would give you a fair deal. But it would also be stuff other people aren't buying.

My experience with grab bags is that they put in a couple good ones to sate you and fill the rest of the order up with stuff others aren't buying. You will assuredly have a few dog rockets.

Good advice, avoid the newbie samplers. With the samplers I bought, there were some I didn't like at all, and some where I only liked a few cigars.

    Two things I'd figure out:

    1) Figure out what size cigar you're most comfortable with smoking and the ring size.

    2) Once you figure that out, buy some cigars from your local shop across the spectrum (mild->full bodied).

After that, you should start figuring out what you like and go from there. The biggest mistake I made was that I didn't take the time to figure out what size cigar and ring size I liked the best. I wasted some serious dinero on these samplers that contained cigar sizes I probably will never plan on smoking. Se la vi...

    Default Oh my God!

    You guys fell for it!

    Issac works for JR cigar!

    He's plugging the Halloween Special!!!

YES, JR's is a reputable dealer. A few years back they actually had their own Posting Board but Lew R. canned it when people started voicing customer complaints on it (hey nobody's perfect).

When I was on it they were running the Halloween thing then too and I recall that many of the guys felt they got a good deal.

Godfather does make a good point though. You may get sizes you don't care for.
