as I posted earlier, the I in spanish is pronounced the same as the e in see. To be correct, Siglo is pronounced, see - glow. In Americanish, sig-lo is the pronunciation.

    Default Great thread......

    How about "Ligero"?

I visited Ybor City, FLA last month and met Felix of Tampa Cigar. Felix is a native Cuban.

Felilx pronouonces ligero "LI - YER - OH" almost like the spanish "J" pronounced as an English "H".

I have always thought it was a hard G as in "Gut".

    Opinions?

I think that it's supposed to have a softer g sound, with mroe emphasis on the surrounding vowels, and maby his accent, you could just hardly hear it. Just my assumption.

I say, as long as it tastes good, who cares how to say it? (Or you could stick w/ the easy ones: Te-Amo, Punch, Rocky Patel, etc.)

twelve years in the business, one trip to nicaragua (tabacalera tropical),three trips to honduras (caribe),and ten trips to the D.R. (cojimar,SAG,and la aurora)...numerous trade shows, etc, etc, has to count for something.
how i'm showing the pronounciations is how those who are from any of those countries (or cuba) pronounce the words or names.
    if they're wrong...i'm wrong....

Isn't Te-Amo actually pronounced something like tae-yamo? Reagan, I did the same thing with Padron for a while, I believe my wishlist on Cigar Pass still says "Pardon."

The one bad thing about smoking cigars is I have to know about all these different countries. I can't just call them all "Mexico" anymore.

    I kid, I kid.
