Default I allways thought a giant Erector set would be fun...

    ... But I was wrong.

So lately I'v been thinking about building another storage building next to my house. I had the costs figured up and was ready to buy all the stuff, then I came across one of those "metal storage building kits" for a cheep price and it was about the same size I had in mind for the one I was going to build, it also came with a free flooring kit- so I thought.. what could go wrong. I do construction work for a living- carpentering, metal building erection, ect. Well, the floor kit even though labled for the building and strapped to the box from factory was either A not the right one or B the place that built it intended the floor to fit inside of the building the walls would sit on the ground and you would walk in about a foot and then step up onto the floor). Ok, so no big deal.. the floor kit was free, I redid it and built it like a normal floor. So I get the floor finished. Pull out all the parts... all fifteen billion of them. All numbered with four digit numbers so the instrctions read stuff like "connection 3546 to 2444 with 3526 then prop up next to wall while you blow your brains out". After four hours of assemblying flemsy pieces of metal that are "structural pieces" I called it quits. One day building a floor and subframe, four hours of assemablying pieces and what do I have accomplished? I have a floor with a bunch of assembled pieces laying on it. I dont know who the hell came up with these damn things, but they need there ass beat. I invented more new curse words on this than I have in a while on anything. Tomorow i'm going to attemped to finish it. Never again will I buy a building in a box. Fucking yuppies.

That does not sound like a very fun project.

My dad is in the middle of having a garage built. He has 4 acres of property of wooded land. He had two of the 1 acre lots combined and built there house on it. He left the other 2 acres as vacant land. He was interested in putting a garage on the vacant land. The village said that he had to construct a house on the vacant land to go with the garage within two years. Basically, they do not want a garage sitting on an empty lot. So, he had to get all of his lots combined so that he has a house on the lot and is able to build another garage. Now he has to ppay taxes on 4 acres of residential land with a house on it. I would not like to pay that tax bill. Anyways, not a big deal. He was going to put up a metal type garage, 2 cars wide 2 cars deep. The village inspector comes out and tells him that because the garage is going on the same lot as the house it has to be the same type of construction, same color siding and the same set back as the house. So now he has a 24' X 50' stick built garage with siding going up. It has a full attic with a dropdown staircase to store all of the christmas decorations. His $20,000 project has just hit $65,000.

Property tax... lets not get started on that

Between my house, the three acres of land that its on plus I own mineral and timber rights on. Then my shop and the 1/2 acre its on. Rediculus. I think the tax on my shop is going to go up soon, their supposed to zone that area (I live in a small town and nothing is zoned), and if they zone it as a residential area I'll have to pay even more tax because its a non residentual building.

This Partagas Black I'm fixing to smoke better not be plugged or have any problems... or someones going to hear about it.

  5. Default Ever Seen The Play Systems?

This reminds me of the story my friend was JUST telling me about.

Anyone ever see one of these play sets before? :

Looks like a simple play set to put together for your kids...right? WRONG!

This thing has about a million different pieces. My friend put it up for his kids in two days (this was with 3 other people, and they worked most of the two days too), but he's heard people having to hire construction crews to put this thing together before....and one crew took about two weeks to do it...

Property taxes are nuts by us. I have a $200,000 home and I pay $3600 in taxes every year!
