Top cigar smoking cities

Hello cigarsmokers.com. I guess I'll start by introducing myself to the community. My name is Justin and I am 13. Me and my friend are aspiring cigar entrepaneurs. We both love the game of poker and we are respected and top rated members of several poker forums. We don't smoke don't worry, but we do want to own a cigar store when we get older. We have been doing research for a while and haven't been able to find anything on the top cigar smoking cities. Me and my friend really like the idea of a Vegas cigar store but if anyone could help us out with good or better locations for the cigar business then it would be much appreciated.


We'll be posting often around here usually with questions on the cigar business. We hope to be active around here and we can't wait to enrich our minds with loads of information on owning and running a succesful cigar business.

Cigar smoking cities is an oxymoron.
With all the smoking bans being inposed by our GOV't it is getting harder and harder to smoke anywhere.

Not to mention the increasingly high tobacco taxes imposed.

Best bet for a store would be one that offered more thngs than just cigars.

A cigar store that has maybe pool tables..I would make it more of a lounge that sold great tobacco.

ALso find a state with low tobacco tax. And also try your hand at an online store!

Id say any major hot spot such as vegas, new york, etc would be a good place to start a cigar shop.

Well actually my next post was going to be a question on what liquor goes nice with a cigar. We were going to sell humidors, different sorts of cutters, lighters, and behind the counter liquor like bourbon and gin or liquor that meets that category.

Might as well ask what beverage goes along best with a cigar... What do you like when your smoking a cigar? Brandy, gin, scotch???

Major cities would be one of the worst places to try to start at. These places are allready going to have established places that have loyal customers and large chain stores which will be able to under sell you on just about everything. When you introduce alcohol your going to run into alot more zoning and licensing problems. I bet by the time your old enough to do any of this your not even going to remember it.

When thinking about where to open a cigar shop (I am highrolla17x's friend by the way), you should think in the same context as opening up a casino. Would you find more business opening in a casino in a place like vegas, or in a place like Atlantic city, which lacks many casinos? Atlantic city of course. If gambling were ever legalized here in MA, casino business hopefuls would be jumping on oppurtunities to open. When something comes along that isnt the norm somewhere, business skyrockets.

As for a cigar shop, I would guess it would be wise to open a shope somewhere that lacks cigar shops/gentlemen clubs, pool bars, etc. A gentlemen club/ cigar shop, what a dream :)

I was just surfing the web, and I noticed they actually sell a Scarface brand name cigar. That's very interesting, and Id like to get one as a souvenir one time or another.

I am not familiar with Atlantic City, but, I would have to disagree. Las Vegas would be the better bet, because you already have the customer base established....opening a casino in Las Vegas (if run the right way) there would be no way to lose. I agree that business would skyrocket in the beginning because it would be something new, but, after the shock wears off, true gamblers will flock to Las Vegas for something bigger. They will get tired of going to the same old casino all the time, Las Vegas there are thousands of casinos and always adding more, there is always something to do there that is new. You don't get that with a small city. We have a casino about 45 minutes away. I have been there once. If I have the urge to gamble, I go to Las Vegas.

If you are going to offer liquor at your cigar shop, I would check places that you could even get a liquor license for that type of establishment. A lot of places have limited number of liquor licenses offered, so, that should be priority number one. Second, I disagree with Silent Chamber about a city being the worst place to start. You want a larger city, more customers....In smaller city is where you are going to run into the problem of competition. In a small city that already has cigar shops with their loyal customers, your business will struggle because there are lses people who will try your shop. With a large city, there are millions of people, some will stay loyal to shop they are comfortable at, but there are more people that will try your shop. Pool tables are a great idea. Also, Poker tables....poker is the new rage, tournaments are a great way to draw a crowd.
