Default Poor Excuse for a Cigar Shop in CT.

Went to the Mohegan Sun here in CT. on Wednesday for a friends send off before marriage. Got there a bit early so I figured Id check out the cigar shop called The Clay Pipe.

Being the second or third largest casino in the world I was expecting something decent. Instead it looked like a sports memoribilia shop with two cabinets of smokes. There were more signed pictures, helmets, jerseys ect than you could shake a stick at and way at the back were the cabinets of cigars. They contained nothing special, nothing you couldnt find at the local shop or even the local news stand/smoke shop. The prices were of course out of this world.

The guy who worked there was about as useful as tits on a bull and just stood there swinging his keys. I knew others have spoken about a smoking lounge there and asked him about it...to which he says...Oh we got rid of that long ago... Then when I asked if there were any other cigar shops in the casino he tells me...Nothing as extensive as our selection. I looked at him, turned and looked at the two cabinets, smiled and left.

I can relate...Not to tits on bulls, but to poor cigar shops. Basically there are tow within a 30 min. drive. They both suck ass. I am driving to Milwaukee (1 hour+) to meet Baron Porthos tomorrow, this is the closest cigar shop worth going to.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, I thought the selection was larger than I would have expected (maybe they've pared down their offerings since I was last in there about a year ago). I too did notice that they have nothing special BUT you forgot to mention the PRICES

Everything I saw was 50% higher than you can get on-line and considerably more than any other shop in Connecticut.

CC...youre absolutely right. I guess I just took the prices for granted...on that level I was expecting to get bent over. After all, a pack of cigarettes is $7.80....were on a god damn reservation...HELLO...no taxes...I guess its reparations for the sins of our ancestors.

I'm not sure what taxes they are required to pay... i 'm pretty sure Foxwoods and Mohegan do charge a sales tax. It might be part of their compact with the state... Sure beats the "no alcohol" part of the Oneidas' compact!
