Here's my advice to you if you want to go into OTR driving:

1. Do not expect to go home every weekend (you simply cannot make money if you spend half your time going home).

2. Be responsible with the money you make. Spending so much time on the road it's very easy to lose track of how much you're spending. There are guys that drive for me that are living on a load to load basis because they can't control their spending habits.

3. Find a company that will train you properly. The driving schools suck! Even though you may have to go through one in order to get your foot in the door somewhere, understand that they do not teach you how to be a truck driver!
