I know your messing with CC here because Lincoln was the first Republican President.

Zachary Taylor was second President that died in office and was voted into office in 1848 and died in 1850 after only being in office for 16 months.

And Roosevelt was elected into Office for his 4th term in 1944 and then died in 1945.

JFK was a piece of shit.

I've seen this done before, but the curse didn't take place until after a certain time I believe. So that would allow the 2 earlier presidents to squeek by. I'm not for sure when the first cursed president took office, so don't quote me. I count Reagan in the list simply because he was EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMELY lucky to live.

Lincoln wasn't a Democrat, but at the time the Republicans weren't conservative. Conservatism didn't take hold in the Republican Party until the 1912 Presidential Election when Teddy Roosevelt ran against his former VP Howard Taft. The more conservative Taft pulled more votes than the Progressive Teddy. Democrat Woodrow Wilson won the Presidency, but the foundation for the conservative ideals of the Repulican Party were pretty much set into motion with that single election.

I hate FDR more than JFK, but I like Harry Truman. Truman is probably my 3rd favorite president.

Really? I always thought Republicans hated FDR for setting the welfare state in motion. Or the hate Jimmy Carter or even the Clintons. But Kennedy? Huh.

Exactly. FDR is #1 in my book. I just hate how Kennedy is made out to be this great president, but he wasn't around long enough to do anything (except Marylin Monroe, lol). It's just the fact that he met a tragic end that make people glamorize him. It's a proven fact, if a president is assasinated, or there is an attempted assasination, his approval ratings go up.

That interesting because no one remember McKinley or Garfield and they were assassinated!

Also, Ford had an attempt on him in San Fransisco and the only thing he is remember is taking over for Nixon.

Lots of presidents have had attempts. Carter did too. Hinckley, the guy who shot Reagan, had a plan to shoot Carter in Nashville at a rally, but Hinckley was caught with guns and what not in his luggage. That coupled with Carter's low approval rating made Hinckley decide to go after a more popular president. Hinckley also plotted to kill Senator Edward Kennedy, but he never carried it out.

Other presidents with known assasinations attempts, other than the obvious ones:
    Bill Clinton
    Gerald Ford
    James Garfield
    Herbert Hoover
    Andrew Johnson
    William Mckinley
    Richard Nixon
    FDR
    Teddy Roosevelt
    Harry Truman

I gotta ask... Does this rule also apply to Reagan?

It sure does (but you know when your approval rating is already 100% there isn't much room for improvement, lol)

Talking about approval ratings, President Bush (41) had the highest approval rating of any U.S. President in the 1900's. After Desert Storm the Americans began focusing on the deficit, so Bush went to Congress and said lets put together a plan. The Democrat controlled Congress fixed a plan which included raising and implimenting new taxes. Now when you run on a campaign of "no new taxes", then you approve this plan as Bush did, Americans went nuts. We are a nation that obsesses over taxes. Hence his approval ratings went down the shit tubes.

He was so popular just before heading into the 92 election no democrats worth a shit even wanted to run against him. Enter a little known governor from Arkansas, and the rest is history.

Harry Truman is one of my favorite presidents even though I am a conservative. But I bet the way things are today, Harry would have jumped to the Republican party!!
