Diet coke or diet dr. pepper. Can't stand the aftertaste of sugar anymore. Coffee's good too, especially something like a cappuccino (sp?) with extra espresso in it - no damn sugar.

On this subject, has anyone tried Coke Zero? This is really the only soda I drink anymore, unless I feel like carbing up with Dr. Pepper. My personal opinion is that Coke Zero is the best 0 calorie, 0 sugar, 0 carb soda on the market.
If anyone from Coke headquarters is reading and wants to comp me for this advertisement, pm me for wire transfer details.![]()

coffee or tea in the morning/daytime. especially espresso based coffees.
blended or single malt scotch in the evening.
Good alternatives would be VSOP cognac/coffee combined.
I don't like sweet tasting drinks with my cigars.

Are you saying cognac IN your coffee or cognac WITH your coffee? Cognac in your coffee sounds... interesting. Okay, weird. :)Originally Posted by cohibaguy
Water or a dark liquor like rum or Whiskey on the rocks or neat. I've had the bad experience of having my beer mask or cover up the taste of some cigars I've smoked. Has that happened to anyone else?
the only time I have noticed a problem was with a local brewerys draft beer, the beer sucks anyway but it was what was around. I took one sip and my next puff on a 1926 tasted awful.
So obviously I tossed the beer because I'm NOT tossing that cigar.
Other than that I generally enjoy everything with my cigars. But I also tend to smoke stronger cigars.

But I am guessing the beer did cost a little less than the cigar, so I guess that would be ok![]()

I find a number of drinks go well with cigars depending on the cigar. Diet sodas, coffee and teas.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.
I have to say that good fresh ground black coffee is probably my favorite pairing.
As far as alchoholic drinks go, A dark malty stout or Belgian Ale, Port, Bourbon or Scotch whiskies, and certain liquers go well. I don't like white or red wine in particular with a cigar, although I enjoy them with food.
As far as soft drinks go, I stick with spice flavored ones like Vernors ginger ale, Root Beer or Sasparilla, Dr. Pepper, or Cola. High carbonation has an acidic effect on your palate, so it can easily overpower the delicate flavors in a fine cigar.
One thing I do to maximize cigar enjoyment. Always quench your thirst before smoking a cigar and just sip the accompanying beverage to help cleanse the palate.

Most of the time I have a cigar and beer together it;s out at the bar with some friends, so I smoke the same less expensive smokes that I bring to share. In this situation a cover up of the taste a little bit won't kill me, unless it makes the cigar taste BAD. Though that hasn;t happened yet.Originally Posted by Cabaiguan Juan
Depends on your definition of beer.
I imagine something yellow and fizzy would go quite poorly with just about any cigar.
However, anything with a little body to it is good.
I'm still....we'll say adjusting...to really dark beers, but I don't drink pale yellow stuff either. Kinda in between.Originally Posted by SuperChuck
I love Jim Beam and Diet Coke. I also drink Dewers Scotch, any beer (dark and stout is better), coffee, and lastly - plain old Diet Coke. Soda makes me burb a lot though and I must swallow some smoke sometimes because I can taste smoke when I burb. I'm not sure whether I like that or not - the jury's out.
puro pot pass VI loser
I usually drink coffee or hot tea with my cigars. When I have a cold drink with my cigars, it hurts my teeth...so hot drink and a nice cigar works better for me!![]()
