    Default Cuban Box Code

I have recently received a box of cigars, supposedly Cubans. I am not anywhere close to being an expert on cigars and would appreciate any help.

The markings on the box all seem genuine. It has the government seal which looks like it should according to all the internet sites I have read. It has the 'Habanos' label on the upper left corner. The bottom of the box is engraved with ' Habanos s.a.' , 'HECHO EN CUBA', and 'Totalmente a mano' (in script). It is, what i think, the factory code that I have been unable to positvely identify. Stamped in purple/blue ink is 'UUS' and 'OCT 05'.

Can anyone please tell me what the UUS means?

The date code should be printed as OCT05 with no spaces.

The UUS is the factory code where the cigars were made. They change them all the time now but factory codes starting in U used to be from Holguin. The rumour is that Habanos changes the codes up to 4 time a year to prevent people from cracking it.

More important than the code is where the cigars were purchsed from. I hope you weren't ripped off.

These were the second shippment that I have gotten from them. Everything seems to check out and they are very good cigars. The first order was 5x3 packs of Montecristo #4s. So they were not in a box. I was very impressed with the cigars and the prices seemed very reasonable.

I found a detailed explanation of the new Cuban government seal. It explained the micro text and the UV watermark. Both were present, so I feel better that I was not ripped off.
    Dear Mr. Tolije,

Due to the nature of the status of anything imported from the country of Cuba to the US, discussions of same are held with some measure of discretion; e.g., via pm, or what-have-you. While you may even not live in the US (you fail to give a clue in your profile), names of sources for those who may interested in Cuban cigars aren't usually bandied about in an open, public forum. Your own discretion on this board would be greatly appreciated, and may prevent your blundering ass from being thrown out. Thank you.
