    Default Shipping headaches from Cbid.

Apparently, UPS has a new shipping option. They ship it to the nearest participating post office and pay them to ship it the remainder of the way. The catch? Once the USPS gets it, it takes 7-10 days to reach destination! WTF! Cbid sent two packages the same day to me, one via DHL, which I got Friday, the other via this UPS Mail Innovations method. I'm still waiting on it!

Nothing pisses me off more than paying $4 to ship a fiver, then having it take over a week to get here!

My message to all of them is . If I get one more shipment like this, I'll be ordering elsewhere!

yeah that is certainly worth a complaint to C-bid. My experience with problems/returns has been great with them so let them know. Phrase it along the lines that if the shipment is dried or damaged you will be returning them for a replacement or refund.

I agree with nh. I've had more than awesome shipping service with C-Bid. I have noticed that DHL ROCKS whereas UPS is not so hot. I had no idea about this US Postal Service tactic. I am sure that if C-Bid were aware of this, they would tell UPS that this form of delivery is unacceptable. It would hurt their business too much. This may be some local area arrangement that affects only your area. I'd definitely let C-Bid know what happened. I'm sure they would be willing to ship to your area using only DHL.

Please let us know what happens, by all means!

Customer service says the warehouse currently chooses the shipper based on the lowest price for the package size. If a customer has a problem with a particular shipping method, they will allow you to choose a preferred provider. I chose DHL. Now as to whether my package gets here, that's another situation. If I don't have it by Friday, I'm supposed to call back.

I think carriers vary widely depending on location.

In my area, UPS and DHL are just awful. Packages take forever to arrive and routinely arrive open and/or damaged. Fedex and USPS, on the other hand, are awesome. My mail is occasionally put through the spindle and mutilate machine (by law, 17% of all mail must be damaged), but it's usually okay.

For example, I had a package arrive from Camino Viejo Tobacos via USPS. It had been through the spindle and mutilate machine, but the cigars inside were fine, thanks to the fine people at Camino Viejo Tobacos and their packaging expertise and great prices on fine cigars.
(Yeah, that was just a shameless plug for Hex)

Yet I have friends in CT that swear by UPS. They also make the mistake of having their Fedex packages sent to their homes, which I understand is a cluster .

Never send any signature packages to your home unless you want to take a day off work to get it. At least the USPS will allow you to pick up your package from the office. Most other shippers don't allow this.

Yeah, but I bet that Rex's company puts those packages through their OWN spindle and mutilate machine, just so you'll be impressed by how well they package them.

    SEE! It is working too!

I do, but you have to remember to bid smart or you will pay more than msrp and don't bother with any fuente or padrons, you will take it hard on those. Lots of morons out there but I've done well by them. The key is to remember that you will see it all again so wait for the deal.

Wow! I've not heard of that "option", but I sure don't want my shipments sent that way! I had one problem about a year ago with something coming USPS and called CBid. They told me I would NOT have my shipments sent USPS anymore. They are now shipped via DHL! No more problems...so far!
