Kevin7 is right about the Drew Estate smokes. If you must, go with cigars in their Natural line- (The Egg excluded). They are the closest resemblence to a good cigar that they make, IMO.

take the macanudo and throw it away...because friends don't let friends smoke macanudo's...
Poppa:
OK, I'll add those, thanks.
Lopaka:
Aren't the Edge line a fairly heavy smoke and kind of out of line for a rookie?? I've read alot good about 'em, but to quote Rocky's Cigars:
The Edge is for professional smokers only. This unrivaled experience fills the acclimatized palate with spicy constituents accenting it's full flavor. It will leave the seasoned smoker weak in the knees without a harsh finish.
hey lo....unless you've tried a baccarat recently,don't knock 'em...secretly,christian re-blended them two years ago...they're actually very tasty...and still mild...let him try 'em....
i would also suggest the oliva grand cameroon and grand maduro...and the oliva tenth anniversary...

The Edge is a very nice smoke. It was one of my first go to smokes when I first started. I like strong smokes, myself. I don't think it's that strong, however everyone has their different tastes.
I'd try some on your say. Would you recommend the Corojo or the Sumatra??Originally Posted by Lopaka
Nothing is out of line for a rookie. Try everything that strikes your interest. I smoked cigars maybe 3 or 4 times in 3 years, always liked it but was never really hooked on the hobby. I was out golfing with my friend last summer and we had some La Gloria Cubana Serie R #5, that was the cigar that reeled me in. I find out later that it's on the medium to strong side of things. So hey you may like something a little stronger too.Originally Posted by Newfie

You're on the right track. Nice little list. I see Cbid in your future. As a former victim of the Newb sampler thread, I'll tell you it is definitely worth it. Try a good variety of cigars. I'm a newbie and I've found that I really like the medium strength maduros. Give the Sancho Panza double maduro a try. Great smoke for the price too.
On a side note... I picked up some Baccarat Luchadores to give out at poker games to guys who don't normally smoke. I didn't plan on smoking them myself, but after BPP's comment I may have to give one a shot.![]()
CBid is Satan. My parents, friends, and a neighborhood militia had to kidnap and de-program me, over a 6 month period. Then I had to have some hardware installed that would cause me to receive a strong electrical shock when I clicked my mouse on any CBid link. I was shocked twice writing this post.
heh - nice list newfie. I agree w/BPP on the macs. K7 is deadon with the Oliva maduros - very nice smoke. The RPs are good. You might want to see about Gran Habano - the red label is my preference - from there they get milder (two more). And, you cannot go wrong with the El Rey de Mundo oscuro - any length really, though I prefer robusto.
