Also, between the months of May and end of October, most of the resorts (any of the few open that time of year) are running on a minimum staff. You don't get the quality of service you'd normaly get, and while the food in Cuba is mediocre at best, it's less that time of year. Last year we were in Santa Lucia at the beginning of November, 2nd week the resort was open, and we could see a definate difference between the population (both staff and guests) and the quality and amount of food from early in the week to when we left.

Cigar shops at the resorts were severely lacking too.

Basically, the first statement is hearsay from others. 2nd paragraph and the cigar statement is my own personal experiences. I haven't checked cost that time of year, but I wouldn't say much different when compared to November.

Just curious, why would you want to go there when it's hot here?
cost! haha. we're 21. not a lot of money to work with. the resort my girl wants to go to is 600/person plus taxes...so comes out to 1600 for the both of us. sounds like a good deal to me! everything included. i duno how expensive it is usually but the resort shes suggesting owns two locations so we would be free to go back and forth. we're not that picky with the food and what not. i was more attracted to the endless booze.

That's probably an average price, and maybe a little high for that time of year. When we went in November, we paid something like $470 + taxes each, and ended up in a 4* resort.

If you're flexible as to what weeks you travel, go "Last Minute" bookings, like www.redtag.ca, or there's plenty others.

Do me a favour, PM me the resort you're looking at and I'll let you know my honest opinions.

Just my 2 cents worth but you might want to look at the Xikar travel cases. It holds 3 churchill sized cigars, has a cedar lining and very strudy construction. I picked mine up on Ebay for a good price. I usually will throw 2 sticks in it and a tube of humidity beads and it is good for days.
