Angry Not allowed in SMOKING SECTION!

Just got back from Las Vegas, for the first time in my life I was told that I could not fire up my stogie in the smoking section. I was at the Stratosphere motel in Luckey's eating joint. I have been there six times over the past few years but this time I was stopped from enjoying a fine smoke. It was explained to me that even though it was a smoking section that cigar smoke was to strong for average smokers and would be offensive. Bullcrap! I will be writing a letter to this joint with my gripe. Dang man, we drop a few grand there everytrip. I tried to refrian from punching the sissy little help, so they don't lock me up, but this is bullshit. Hell I might even act like a ACLU advocate and sue the dipsticks since no signs were posted! In sheer defiance I brought the Monti C back to life very often with a big grin. Any one have this bullcrap happen to them?

Happened to me, but never in Vegas. Wherever I go now, I do have to ask do you allow "cigar" smoking - up to the individual proprietor. Applies to bars, pool halls, etc.
Look at that... I plumb got myself 5 raisins and 7 termites.

sadly,it's only the beginning....i'm afraid that most smoking will be outlawed if the non-smokers have their way...which they will....

Well I didnt have that in Vegas but many other places I've ran into that small mentality. One time it was in KC when you could smoke at the KC Masterpiece Restaurant down in the Plaza area. We was even asked to leave if we wouldnt put our cigars out. Yet there was a ton of chain smoking cigarettes stinking the place up. Another time happened up in the town I lived in at a place called A&G's. Mind you the smoking section is HUGE compared to the non-smokers. Interesting fact...So my buddy lits up a cigar after asking if it was ok. They said sure. I lit one up as well. My dad puffs on his cigarettes with the other chain smokers. Like 5 mins later the waitress comes up and tells us..we have to put out the cigars right now. Needless to say the meal was done. I guess someone was offended by the cigar smoke but not the 30 to 40 cigarettes that was being torched at the same time. Go figure. Needless to say we left for the bar where we could enjoy the cigars in peace and quiet. Only place in town you can smoke at.

Thats total BS. How can they discriminate between tabacco from a cig and tabacco from a cigar?!?

I know its already bad out here in California with the smoking of cigarettes being banned almost everyone. Theres even talk of banning smoking in public places. Im the kind of A-hole that would make sure everyone in the place heard what was going on if I were asked to put out a cigar while others around are smoking cigarettes.

I was at the bowling alley with my uncle and a friend of mine, we all lit up some cigars and were happily smoking them. My wife comes into the bar area where we are and apparently is seen by someone who knew her in high school. So I walk over to my wife to say hello and hear this person bitching about how these guys are annoying them by sitting near there table and smoking cigars, this girl happened to be a cigarette smoker. So I put my arm around my wife and she introduces me. The girl looks at me and tells me I should put out my cigar because it is bothering her and her friends. I smiled took a deep puff, then I blew the smoke in her face and walked away.

My feeling on smoking laws is pretty simple, put up a nice sign on the door that says SMOKING ALLOWED. Simple as that. People need to be responsible for themselves, if you don't like the fact that smoking is allowed somewhere don't fucking go there.

Funny you would start this thread, cause it happened to me tonight. Not for my first time either. It was an irish place, and half was none smoking ,half was smoking. It was late at night so the place was slowing down. After our meal we migrated over to the smoking area and I sparked a stogie. Not a few minutes after some "doorman" walks up and tells me that Cigar smoking isn't allowed. Well I argued, then I just let it be. A minute later my friend points out some people smoking corona sized cigars a few tables away. So next time the doorman walked past I asked him why my robusto isn't allowed but they are ok. He said cause they are smaller What a moron. I told him I'm gonna finish my stogie and drink and take off, he said he would pretend he didn't notice... Anyways, I finished and we left after awhile, but one things for sure, I ain't ever going back there. And I guess that is about all we can do, not go to establishments that don't allow cigar smoking but allow cigarette smoking...

You bastards that can smoke indoors...

The only "public place" I smoke anymore is a bench down by the water... No one bothers me there.

It's only a matter of time before they make the sale of tobacco products illegal. Congress (Orin Hatch) tried to get a bill through that would have prohibited the shipment of tobacco across state lines, putting us and plenty of other people out of business. These guys are hypocrites and law breakers with their cubans any way. They only care about big business interests and public sympathy. Enjoy your smokes now, because they won't be available legally forever.

I smoke at ball games and sometimes people give me lip, I just smile and say that it's the great outdoors, chill out and relax. It's like tobacco smoke has become the most vile of poisons that the mere sight of it sends the citizenry screaming and fleeing in panic.

It won't go that far. The government will never give up all that revenue they get from tobacco taxes. We are the public whipping boy currently, hopefully things will change and we won't be in the near future.

I was in San Antonio late last year, we found a great little pub down on the Riverwalk with a singing piano man singing rude little ditties. I saw cigarette smoke everywhere so I sat way in the back by the door and enjoyed a little cigar. Didn't ask, but stayed discreet enought that I got away with it. Hee hee!!!!

It's actually this very issue that I'm glad they banned smoking in NYC. Because every where in NYC before the ban (at least in Manhattan) that allowed smoking would tell my friend and I every time, no cigars, only cigarettes. So, as far as I was concerned, I couldn't smoke stogies indoors in NYC anyway. I'd walk out of bars pissed because I smelt of cigarettes and couldn't smoke my cigars. When the ban came along, I thought of it as justice because at least all those idiot smokers who didn't like cigar smoke were stuck outside on the curb in the middle of winter.

Yeah, I kind of like the smoking bans... You can actually go out without your clothes smelling like an ashtray.

And it seems most places have some loopholes in there to allow smoking in places like smoke shops and cigar lounges...

I kind of wish there was more leeway for places that are well-ventilated, though. That would make a lot of sense.

I just dont see what the reasoning to someone smoking a cigar shouldnt be allowed and a cigarette is fine. The reason they have smoking and non smoking sections is for health reasons, not the smell of it.

See, but you're thinking logically and in a way that would make sense. Cut that out :p.

Luckily there isn't a super strict smoking ban, which is surprising. The only place they're super strict is around my high school. You cant even walk past there on the other side of the street smoking anything without security decending on you.

Hehehe, and I remember when you had to run across the street from the high school to smoke... :)

Security at a high school... What is this world coming to?
