Default Looks like this newbie's been had!!

Oh well, nobody likes to admit being had, but while I was researching some supposedly authentic Cubans that I thought I had bought at a reputable shop, I found that 5 "cohiba edicion piramides limitada 2004" were never produced. They were produced in 2001, yet these are banded 2004.

So... I humbly bow my head over and over as quickly as I can in close proximity to the nearest brick wall.

I've noticed lots of people starting out, so I thought I'd post just to verify that it does happen, and the people who do it are good at it. These cigars were purchased at a shop on Grafton St. in Dublin Ireland (near the end - 2nd floor - really appeared high class) and they weren't cheap.

I'm hoping they're decent. Regardless, I'm gonna enjoy them even if I hate them!

I know exactly what shop this is too. You should have went to the one right across the street from Trinity College and a couple of doors down from the Peterson Pipe place.

Default Found the name of the shop

Found a business card. The salesman's name is Nathan Merren.
My recommendation would be to avoid this shop if you are in Dublin.

He's still selling them. There's even a picture under "Cuban Limited Edition Pyramid Selection" at http://www.decent-cigar.com/main.php?mb=oo

Mr. Peat -- Think I'm gonna stay away - I just don't know enough yet.

Well, I've been trading emails with this guy. He is now telling me that Altadis "goofed" and put the 2004 bands on by mistake. I didn't think I sounded stupid in my emails. Guess I have to review my writing style. They are now asking what they can do for me. Any ideas? I just asked them what they can offer. Let's see where this goes.

It suddenly hit me that this may be in the wrong forum. If so, I apologize. Hex, please move it if you think it belongs somewhere else. Thanks!

Tell him you want your money back, nothing less. If he refuses tell him that you'll report him as a seller of fakes to Habanos SA and H&F. They've stepped up enforcement against scumbags lately and may take an interest in this one.

He's full of shit. There's a 99.999% chance these cigars are fakes. Tell him you want your money back.

Oh, and as an aside, Altadis is a marketer and distributor in partnership with Habanos SA which is the manufacturer. Altadis therefore does not "band" cigars, Habanos does.

Well, I told this guy that there was lots of discussion on the web and he could either have Habanos SA post something in the news area of their official web site or he could send me my money back. I'm getting my money back.

Maybe I'll have a contest for some of these things. They might be collector items in the future!
