I'm headed down to the deep south the first week of May...
Anyone have any suggestions for restaurants, things to do, and places to smoke?
Most importantly, where's the best BBQ in town?

In Tunica all there is do is casinos. Tunica is a small town that got lucky when Mississippi let gambling in. There just is not much to do there except gamble and eat.
Memphis...About fifty miles from Tunica is your best bet for fun outside of the casinos.
You want Bar-B-Q...Memphis is the Bar-B-Q capital of the world. The Rendezvous downtown, Corkys on Poplar Ave, or my favorite Interstate Bar-B-Q on Third Street have excellent "Q".
Memphis has so much to do it's unbelieveable. Check out Beale Street for starters. Also since you comming this way in May, Memphis in May will be in full swing. Basically Memphis in May is a street festival that lasts for a full month. Lots of big name bands are in town for that.
Memphis also has it's fair share of Cigar Shops...The Memphis Tobacco Bowl downtown is cool. you see a few famous folks in there occasionally. The Tobacco Corner at Poplar and Mendnehal is the oldest cigar shop in Memphis. It has an atmosphere that many newer shops don't have.
Enjoy your stay down south.
I'll see if I can wrangle a car or find some other way up to TN....
What brings you to Tunica? Dumb question. If you want to do anything besides gamble, plan a trip to Memphis. I think there are shuttles that run between Memphis and Tunica. You'll want to check out downtown Memphis / Beale Street. Sarge had some good ideas. If you want some BBQ and you are downtown, check out Rendezvous. My favorite place for BBQ is the Commissary in Germantown, TN, but that's a little out of the way. Interstate BBQ is a close 2nd and would be on the way if you are driving to Memphis from Tunica.
Check out Beale St if you can. Some additions to Sarge's list are Swigs(Martini bar), and Pat O'Briens(no cover charge, cigar friendly).
I live just south of Memphis. I normally stay away from downtown during May, but let me know if you make it up to Memphis, maybe I can sneak away.
My grandparents live about 45 miles south of Tunica, so I remember it before it got the casinos. It was nothing but a highway and a few gas stations. Now, it's a funny place to drive through. You drive for miles and miles through the middle of nowhere, all of a sudden some casinos and some outlet malls pop up, and as soon as you see them, you're through Tunica and back in the middle of nowhere.
My favorite Mississippi gambling spot is Biloxi, although I haven't seen it post-Katrina yet.
Have you ever thought about maybe turning off the TV, sitting down with your kids...and hitting them?
I'm there for the OTHER side of gambling... I'm a "booth babe" for some big gaming show they have down there (Southern Gaming Summit?).Originally Posted by WOXOF

It's ok for what it is. I hope you have a high tolerance for mullets and tank tops.
Well, I am looking to get the "Southern Experience"Originally Posted by WOXOF

If you're looking for some BBQ, I know Sam's Town Casino has a Corky's BBQ restaurant inside. I can't promise that it is comparable to the other Corky's though.
