Thread: My Best Buy EVER

    Talking My Best Buy EVER

Well, after about a month of searching everywhere, my regular cigar shop (Vilar Cigars) told me that Macabi on 8th street had about half a box left of the Opus X Perfexion's. So straight after work today I headed straight to Macabi. They had a limit of two, but I sweet talked the guy into giving me 4. I guess he was so used to ringing up the 2 limit, but I realized when I was in the car he had only charged me $30.00 for all 4 of the Opus's. So yeah...one hell of a buy...4 Fuente Fuente Opus X's for $7.50 a piece. I'm so tempted to light one up, but am wanting to let them age....dunno what to do as far as smoking one...let's see if I can avoid the temptation. Just had to brag about the great buy.

my guess is that your good luck will be his bad luck....he'll get charged for the cigars...so today he gets screwed...if you were prepared to pay for four...i'd go back and tell him you caught the mistake.....that's what i'd do...your mileage may vary..

Toasty, you gotta be shittin' us here. So if, say in a group buy, where you sent in enough money for 10 AF 858 sungrowns, and say, cigarsarge sent in enough for 15 cigars, and I accidentally sent you the 15 and sarge the 10 . . . are you saying sarge would just be shit out of luck? Thanks for the warning dude - I'll know to never ever trade with you. jeezus, just shoot me in the fucking head.

Now go back and pay that man his fucking money!!

Do you really think that he'll be responsible for the 2? If that's the case then yeah, I'll true up when I go in on Friday. $30.00 is a lot to a guy that's probably only making $7.00 an hour. I think they are called the Opus X Perfexion's but I'm not sure. It's wrapped in Cedar with a Red Ribbon wrapped around the tip. The band says Fuente Opus X Rare Estate Reserve. Any idea exactly which Opus this is?

Well, MSRP on Perfecxion #5's is $7.50. However, average price paid, according to top 25 is $9. There are 5 sizes (and prices) of Perfecxions.

Wow dude, you're acting like I stole something. I realized the fact after I got into the car and was on the way home. In Miami, WHILE all the bullshit protests and traffic was hell. I'm going back there on Friday as I said, and true up then. And yeah, I've had 1 trade so far, and haven't "fucked" anyone over. I got this from a store, not a person...not a trade. So whatever man...you're quick to be a real jerk, and flipping out when you don't even know me.

you "sweet-talked" him into selling you four cigars...that's what he gave you...that's what you should pay for...if the $30 was too much for you then you should have bought just two....or something that was more affordable....as for waiting 'til friday...how about if he gets fired because of the favor and the mistake....live with that!!!...

he did you a favor...made a mistake...man up and bring him the extra money or the two cigars...

Wow dude, you DID steal something! Calling this a "good deal" when in reality it is you benefitting from the guy's mistake is the same mentality as breaking any law and saying "it ain't wrong as long as I don't get caught."

And, the part about "I realized the fact after . . ." hmm, dubious. And, what the hell does bullshit protests and traffic have to do with this besides you attempting to change the subject. And, you ain't seen flipped out. And, where do you get off calling me a jerk after coming on here and bragging for cryingoutfuckingloud about ripping somebody off??

edit: Know you??? Goddamn!! You got that shit right - all I know is what you show right here on this board . . . I know all I want to know!! Stop being a fucking pinhead man!!

Ok dude...I'm done with this whole conversation. As I already said, it wasn't till I was GONE that I realized what had happened. I doubt $30 short is going to cost someone their job like was brought up. Like I said, wtf is going on here. If I just said, I went in and had a guy picking up some damn Cheapos and took the cigars out of the box while his back was turned, then yeah...bring all the OUTRAGE and drama. I paid $30.00. If the MSRP was $30.00 total, isn't it remotely possible that that's the real price and I thought it should have been a lot more expensive when all these websites are selling them for $40.00 a piece? There is no itemized receipt, just my credit card receipt.

i really hope some others see this...you're showing what kind of person you really are....if you think you only got charged for two cigars...go pay for the other two.....end of discussion...

regarding whether he could lose his job...i wouldn't take a chance...it's called doing something nice for someone....maybe some day someone will do something nice for you....enjoy your two free cigars, you fucking turd....

the first thing i'd do is to call the store and tell them a mistake was made...and go make it right.....remember...karma has a way of rearing its ugly head...or its good head...but it does go 'round...

Nice try. you don't know what $30 dollars short in the till will do. Taking the cigars after being undercharged is just like waiting for the guy to turn his back to reach for the good stuff, except worse - you looked him in the eye. Now, maybe the cigars weren't marked and maybe you bought them without even finding out what they cost and maybe you didn't think about it til after you left the store. BUT, after you did think about it, you did, by your own admission, mark yourself fortunate for having profitted from another's mistake. That's wrong.

Everyone is right. You should have went back once you were unsure whether or not you had been charged correctly. Look at it this way, the guy would probably help you and anyone else who comes into the shop as good as he can, which is shown by him selling you more than he was supposed to anyway. Seems like a nice fella to me. Then you don't have the integrity to go back and ask if he made a mistake and if you owe him for the cigars?
He did a very nice thing for you, the least you could do is make sure he won't get in trouble for helping you out. That's just my humble opinion on this matter.

    I got this from a store, not a person...not a trade.
Hmmmm what do you think owns that store pal? That's right some guy trying to make a living. So you did take from a real person.

    Solution:

Go back and inquire about the price. Maybe he charged you correctly for what you got and no harm no foul. If he did undercharge you and you are now back in his store bringing this to his attention most shop owners will say thanks but don't worry about it.

By merely offereing to correct the mistake you will reap greater rewards from that shop owner in the future than the two free sticks.

    You make the call.

    PM just in from boosty:

You can look in the yellow pages and call if you have any remote of a doubt. So yeah, I will call and ask what the price they are selling them for. If they are $7.50 each, then wow...it's a place that is selling them for MSRP. If not, then real simple. They can charge me right over the phone. So what else is there? Why did this take such a damn backwards turn. I've been cool about it, and u two have come off really fucked up.
Well, I'm older than you, but I haven't lost my memory just yet - I gave the msrp. You have not been at all cool about this. Think: If you were the store guy and you realized as the guy you just accidentally sold cigars at 1/2-price to is driving away, would you say, there goes a cool guy??? And I'm coming off fucked up??? You're wrong about that too. Consider yourself corrected.

If they cost $7.50 each and you paid 30 bucks for 4, sounds like no foul. But it wouldn't hurt to call and ask anyway. The next time you ask for a favor I'll bet you'll get it.

Kama....hummm that reminds me of a story. Since I have a captive audience and this is my birthday I am gonna tell it. About 18 years ago things were tight financially for me and hubby. So bad that $20 dollars a week was all that was extra "fun money" we called it. Anyhow the more money I could save cutting coupons and so on the more "fun money" we could have. So one day after grocery shopping I am looking at my receipt and I notice the girl made a 7 dollar mistake in my favor when deducting coupons. For a fleeting moment I was extremely happy. Then those tapes began playing in my head you know the ones, treat people how you would want people to treat you . So even know I really was running late I went back in and had them fix the mistake. They said thank you and they were surprised and I was complimented on my integrity. All in all I felt even happier then I did with the extra seven dollars. On the way home I stopped at the conner store to pick up something I had forgotten and I bought a dollar scratch ticket, mind you this was not something I normal did with only 20.00 extra for the week. Anyhow it was a $1000.00 winner! This is one of many stories I could tell you about Kama it doesn't always work that fast, but it always comes around.
