Not to thread jack, but Tolije what are your thoughts on factory refurbished laptops? I have seen them in the dell outlet and see that they are considerably less than a brand new one. Anyway, if you would be gracious enough to lend some of your expertise to another I would really appreciate it.
"...How oft it happens when one's smoking,
The tamper's missing from it's shelf,
And one goes with one's finger poking
Into the bowl and burns oneself.
If in the pipe such pain doth dwell
How hot must be the pains of Hell!

Thus o'er my pipe in contemplation
Of such things - I can constantly
    Indulge in fruitful meditation,
    And so, puffing contentedly,
On land, at sea, at home, abroad,
I smoke my pipe and worship God."

    Johann Sebastian Bach - 1725 (1685-1750)

    S-Y,

The Dell refurbished are decent laptops. These are usually models that are not sold as new anymore. The military makes large purchases of the discontinued/refurbished models and they last quite a while and do the job. Make sure that you purchase the 'next day service' warranty. It is well worth the price. 1 needed repair (monitor for example) and it just paid for itself. Refurbished or new - electronic components will break unexpectedly.

What you buy will be determined by what your intended purpose for the laptop is. If you plan on using it for gaming and such, it will cost you a great deal of money. For everyday use (email, internet, word processing, etc), you won't need many bells and whitsles. Thus it will cost you less.
